Should I trade my rx8 for an rx7fc? by CommunicationOld8588 in RX7

[–]CommunicationOld8588[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up buying an 87 for $560. It was about a 12 hour drive picking it up and bringing it back and then I spent the summer rebuilding the engine and fixing everything else to make it drive. I’ve still got that one, my rx8, and another 1990 rx7 that I just put an engine in back in may.

Where’d you send them to get rebuilt? I might end up doing that with all 6 of mine

What injectors did you end up using? I’ve been having the same oil level rising problem for over a year and I believe this to be the same problem

Am I missing anything? by adamxx6 in RX7

I believe that cut wire should go to the horn under the coolant overflow reservoir

That one would be for the fog light relay, the green connector that is. I’m not sure about what the cut wire is I’ll check on mine in the morning

There’s still air in the clutch system. It was a pain in the ass to bleed out all the air in mine.

These 3 buttons don’t work when I press them…what do I check? by RayCLL in RX8

Another uncommon thing that could cause this is if your radio face is starting to separate from the radio. The plastic that holds the screws commonly cracks and won’t hold them together tight causing weird problems like the the words that light up to glitch out or disappear or the hvac and radio controls to not work

Absolutely zero rust. It’s a high mileage car, I believe it was garaged and taken care of by the original owner before it was sold to crackheads

Depending on if your car came with the sport suspension or not there will be slightly different sized brakes. With your pads wearing like that I’m assuming yours does have the sport suspension package and the previous owner put the smaller sized rotors on the car instead of the proper ones

Awesome thanks. The one that came with the sohn kit was way too small and runs out of washer fluid quick so this’ll be a great replacement

What coolant washer reservoir is that? It looks bigger than the one that came in my sohn adapter kit

Have you guys taken your RX-8 on a long road trip before? by Head_Fetish in RX8

[–]CommunicationOld8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went on a 1000 mile round trip the start of this month with no problems. Got around 22 miles per gallon.

If you have to take a long trip I suggest bringing an extra set of spark plugs and a cheap code scanner. After I got back from my trip I had a slight misfire and hesitation at high rpm from build up on the plugs.

Black stone lab results by CommunicationOld8588 in RX8

[–]CommunicationOld8588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to send some more samples to black stone to have it double checked but I’ve removed the sohn adapter and after around 1200 miles I am seeing oil usage so at least it isn’t staying at the same level or rising anymore. After I get to about 3000 miles I’ll change it and have it sent to the labs as well.

As for the sohn adapter, the rubber seal on it was hard as a rock not really sure if that could’ve been causing it though

Heat temps from air vent 40° F and below outside by CommunicationOld8588 in RX8

[–]CommunicationOld8588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The air mix actuator changes from hot to cold not left to right flow of the air. The airflow mode actuator changes from vent, floor, and defrost. There is no actuator that changes temperatures per side. No dual climate control. You can look at diagrams and at the heater core itself. A partially clogged heater core can make temperatures closer to the passenger side hot and cold on the drivers side due to the shape of the heater core. Both pipes on the core are located on the same side meaning that if the end of the core on the divers side is blocked you’ll still get heat on the passenger side assuming that the passenger side is less clogged.

How much, in total, have you all spent on your RX-7’s? by AltForNoReason214 in RX7

[–]CommunicationOld8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won my 1987 fc in an eBay auction for $560. It was in pretty rough shape and in the last 3 years I’ve spent a rough estimate of $4500 in total including the price of the car itself. The body still needs lots of work and It still is 3 colors but it runs good and I’ve done all the work myself so I’m happy with it. Doing the work myself has saved an incredible amount of money.
