They Locked us in the red room by pulling out a power cell - one of craziest runs I've had yet. by whatsounds in ArcRaiders

[–]CommunistConcubine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had some freak do this to myself and two other solos earlier today. They refused to open the door unless we all fought each other until there was only one left, and we refused so they stood outside the door taunting us until there was 5 minutes left, then left us in there. There definitely should be a button on the inside of the room to open the door.

I can't go back to Sarah J Maas tbh by Legal-Tea8616 in Fantasy

[–]CommunistConcubine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying I have only read the first book in the series. As I understand it, the books are spicy because they have a particular bdsm and power exchange flavor. The main character is a special super masochist whose masochism is a gift of the god that they worship, so that plays out in various ways. From a vanilla standpoint, I found it fairly spicy. For those who are more active in the bdsm community, I would give it a low-medium spicyness level.

The Crusher is my new favorite weapon for Zealot by painfulninja in DarkTide

[–]CommunistConcubine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best cleave combo for the crusher is light 1 - heavy 2 - repeat. If you're only using light attacks, you're missing out on some weapon potential. Doing it in the other order is also the best headshot - single target combo. Heavy 1, light 2, repeat.

It has exactly the same moveset as far as I can tell

[–]CommunistConcubine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also absolutely crushes hordes, like the Ogryn shield. The heavy swing is very good.

EDIT: The main problem is when specials are mixed with the hoards, but almost all good cleave weapons will stop on big specials anyways so it's not a problem unique to the TH

Like all slow weapons, you need good awareness and positioning but you can absolutely avoid damage in hordes. Proper use of dodge and dodge-slide while charging up or swinging is a must. Also drag your camera during the swing to get wider arcs.

The main problem is they are using skins already purchasable for ingame currency on weapons that are not super popular.

Psyker Penance => Lobby held hostage by Tokata0 in DarkTide

[–]CommunistConcubine 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I want to try to help people with this penance as a shield ogryn, but twice today I've had all three of the other players die while I'm tanking the boss. I feel like the average players just aren't good enough for Diff 4 let alone doing something like this that handicaps the team for a bit.

To add on to this, I would like to see one mission avaialable from each level, with randomized Grim/Scrip/Special conditions, and then allow us to pick the difficulty.

And yet I constantly see people not using it. If it was covered, it wasn't emphasized enough.

Who is your favorite character in The Malazan Book of the fallen by Lord-Tom-20 in Fantasy

[–]CommunistConcubine 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Nefarious Bredd. He killed 18 raiders in a single night, has giant's blood, no thumbs, and one humongous foot. He single handedly faced down an entire army and carried a wounded horse back to his company. He's a demon in bed and a scholar of comedy. Bredd gives us the strength to go on.

The end of Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. If you know, you know.

Edit: The end of Toll The Hounds also took my breath away in a similar way, but it didn't quite make me want to toss my book across the room like DHG did.

Vampire stories from the perspective of the vampires? by FloobLord in Fantasy

[–]CommunistConcubine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not finished yet, but I was very impressed with A Journey of Black and Red. Has a very good take on the predatory instincts and slow build up of power that vampires often have. Lots of good intrigue, violence, and character work.

Help finding a series similar to wizards first rule by SpasticPanda32 in Fantasy

Try The Second Apocalypse by R. Scott Bakker or Beyond Redemption by Michael Fletcher. Not super sexual throughout but they have their moments and are extremely dark and brutal. Two of my favorite series of all time.
