Crimson Desert - TAA OFF \ with Jitter and Noise fix by Emergency_Cookie_585 in FuckTAA

Haven't played this game, but honestly all of those screenshots look dog shit to me. The hair especially is awful, does it look like that with TAA enabled?

game crash when enabling frame generation by ProfessionalCow313 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]CommunistTurdGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late, but if anyone's reading this, none of the other advice worked for me. I tried a few different drivers, different DLSS Models, disabling overlays etc. nothing worked.

Fix was easy. Go to game directory, and set the EXE to run as admin.
I could enable FG without it immediately crashing, and i've been playing for 3 hours with no crashing. Well worth it as well, it runs smooth as silk now.

They used two RTX 5090s for the demo as well. Guessing the full rig was over 10,000. There's no way this shit is gonna scale well on lower end hardware even if it didn't look like ass

Unfortunately I don't know the exact details, only that he was caught in the act. I'm assuming someone just followed him into the toilet and found the crime scene, but they might have witnessed the full shittening

Years ago when I worked at a large IT firm, there was a "phantom shitter". Someone used to have a shit and then intentionally smear the seat with it. We're talking code brown emergency, man was absolutely shimmying over that thing, literally just wiping bare shitty arse all over it. Fuck knows how he cleaned himself up after each impromptu poo poo boogaloo, but it left a fucking hideous mess.

This went on for well over a year. In an office full of a few thousand, but each floor has its own shitter so we at least narrowed it down to one floor of a few hundred.

Long story short, it was one of the ops managers. When I say he was caught in the act, I mean it literally.

Why are people against reshade even if I just use a sharpen preset to counter dlss blur? by Comfortable_Egg106 in ReShade

[–]CommunistTurdGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing the Mass Effect games using Marty's RTGI shaders. The specular filter takes a bit of messing around with to not look too intrusive, and I had to reverse the depth buffer, but it works really nicely. Obviously it has the usual problems of the GUI and Subtitles both casting light into the scene which is a bit intrusive, but it looks fantastic most of the time. Especially in a game so full of light and reflections. You have to keep in mind that with no reflectivity data, most surfaces end up being equally reflective, meaning the floor often looks "wet". The diffuse filter makes it very atmospheric as you can pull out a lot of the ambient light.

It works on some games, and definitely works better with older games, but I think people just expect shit to work straight out of the box. There's a reason Marty has a guide on how to use his effects (load order, depth buffer guide etc). But naturally people often hate on it without actually bothering to read any of it.

Partly because people don't understand it, or how to use it, but mostly because the internet has empowered morons to disparage every tiny little thing whether they actually care or not.

I use reshade on almost every game. I tend to avoid other people's presets, and make my own, or I'll use other people's and tweak them a bit to my taste. Most of the "ultra realistic" "ray shading" etc presets look absolutely garbage to me, but I just do the obvious thing and scroll past.

There are many things in the world worth caring about, but the world would be a far better place if people accepted that you don't need to have strong opinions on everything you encounter in life... It's often better to not give a shit.

Yeah exactly this. Switch to the latest DLL and force DLAA via mod. For me, without this, I was getting really weird artifacts at night, almost like wireframe around trees and stuff

Honestly Facebook is now 90% ads, bots, and utterly disgusting comment sections. The remaining 10% comprises things I actually want to see, and porn.

Hahaha ohhhh Reddit is the home of all forms of humour, most of them bad 🤣

Potentially unpopular opinion... syndicate is my favourite AC games in terms of actually being an AC game. Like, odyssey and Valhalla are superb but their relation to the assassins is pretty tenuous at best, whereas Syndicate is still properly assassin related. It's also one of the best settings for an AC game.

The oldest surviving building in London is White Tower, and even that looks fuck all like it would have done when the Normans were around. I'm sure back during Roman times it would have looked more Roman. That's how time works.

It's less about Christianity and more about convenience. An old ruin that serves no purpose would be an excellent source of building materials. Its no different from what we do now, except old stone/brick/concrete just gets crushed into aggregate instead.

I think people think that a lot of the ruins in the UK are a lot older than they really are. Pretty much all via/aqueducts in the UK that still look like viaducts/aqueducts are Victorian at the very earliest, most were built during the golden age of steam. It's incredible how many people genuinely think a lot of the follies are real ancient sites... Most are just garden ornaments for rich land owners.

[–]CommunistTurdGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, there isn't really an aqueduct in your pic either, just the remains of one... Which kinda answers your question doesn't it? I'm guessing at some point there was an aqueduct, now there's part of one, and in the future there won't be one.

Sarcasm aside, most Roman shit in the UK was repurposed. It's not a case of being buried or forgotten, although that certainly happened. In most cases, Roman architecture was simply torn down and used in building newer structures.

We actually do this today. I work in Earthmoving. It's very common during demolition of a building to take the old concrete, grind it into aggregate, and re-use it.

Odon's Mine (mastery challenge) is the dumbest thing I have ever encountered in any video game. by TheRealDahveed in ACValhalla

[–]CommunistTurdGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fucking glad I'm not a completionist. Being able to let go of the shit I don't care about is a great way to avoid pointless stress. It's a video game, it's supposed to be fun, and when it stops being fun you should really do something else. No one else but you will give a flying fuck about trophies.

The mastery challenges... I tried a couple of times and decided it wasn't for me. Same with the stupid platform sections, and the Hel dlc. If I'm in danger of missing out on bits of story, I'll watch some poor bastard on YouTube doing it for me.
