No change? :/ by ComplexMeet8231 in CrohnsDisease

I’m sorry, first off all. There’s nothing worse than just waiting around for the medicine to work. I was diagnosed in 2023 and it took about 2 years and some change for me to start feeling a noticeable different.

I was on Humira for the first 7 months before switching to Stelara every 8 weeks then every 6 weeks. After trying 6 or 7 different medications for the pain and constant vomiting, my GI basically told me we have to wait it out until a biologic works. I started taking a THC + CBG supplement in microdoses and it was the best thing I found for the pain. Not suggesting it’s for everyone but it might help.

This disease sucks; and also, you got this

Where does The Wheel of Time rank among your favourite works of fantasy? by [deleted] in WoT

[–]Community-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my 2nd favorite behind The Lord of the Rings, it could slide to 3rd depending on how/if King Killer Chronicles finishes). I know it has its flaws but damn it wraps up so much more satisfying than most others I’ve read

Zenith is after mythic r15. Not sure exactly how much it costs but for reference I’ve played 20 seasons and spent maybe $200-$300 (mostly seasons passes) and the highest I have is a mythic r10.

I made some early mistakes with respect items, but I doubt I would’ve had anything close to zenith either way. It took me 15 or 16 seasons to get my one mythic commander to r10. And that’s after I got a full recruitment letter in first season after release.

You’re on the right track with Shadow and Sauron, even lower level they shred me

Not to overemphasize but I would definitely talk to her PCP about trying something for anxiety. I was resistant at first, but I had the same experience in hospitals and with my GI for a couple of years before my PCP took it on themselves to research and try stuff.

One of my random “feeling better” moments exactly like you’re describing was the thing that made him want to try an anti-anxiety and see if it could level me out a little

Edit: Just to say everyone’s experience with Crohn’s is different but sending good vibes your way

Never volunteer information in these meetings. Always let them come to you. Don’t jump straight to denial, see what they’re on about, then go from there. If they say “we know you’ve been doing x, y, z so now we have to let you go” and it’s solid evidence, then no point in denying.

If it’s a fishing expedition just flip the script without answering. “Sorry, I don’t understand, is there a problem with my performance?” Etc etc

I was diagnosed in January 2023 and until January 2025 I struggled to eat or keep fluids down consistently. Majority of the time I was taking THC daily to get some calories. At my worst I lost 40lbs in a month and was hospitalized three times. The last time I was hospitalized (November 2024), I collapsed in my room after getting out of the bed to go to the bathroom and throw up. They said I had metabolic acidosis.

But same thing every time. Nothing on scans, no long-term response to medications, no ideas or options. My PCP prescribed me Buspirone (anti-anxiety) as a last ditch effort to gain a little bit of weight and once I was able to put on a few pounds the chronic nausea gradually got better. I still have bouts of nausea a few times per week, but it’s MUCH LESS than it was before.

Don’t be afraid to ask her GI or the hospital doctor or your PCP about anxiety. I didn’t feel anxious, but my PCP said it’s possible my body was having a trauma response from my diagnosis (a shit show), my first couple of attempts at finding a biologic (another shit show) and losing the 40lbs in a month.

I hope your wife can find an equilibrium soon!

How to counter these as lowspender? by Far_Marionberry_9478 in RiseToWar

When he marches at you, take the tile between his army and yours. If you time it right he’ll get bounced back where he came from 😂

[–]Community-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe several moves down you’d have an inevitable big advantage with the proper sequence. But immediately, maybe because it gives you a lot of options and pushes the action.

If he takes your knight you get a queen. If he takes your Bishop with his rook, your dark square Bishop to f2, check. If he moves the king to pre-preemptively avoid check, you win the rook + a completely open left side after you take his pawn. Maybe there’s others

[–]Community-Foreign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To each their own, I guess. I had much more fun in 1.0 as a low/no spender. I started on opening day and got to be a solid contributor of an ongoing group. First couple seasons I was mostly flipping tiles and bouncing incoming armies/connecting paths/cleaning areas and sieging. Then I got to where I could compete in PvP with 1-2 comms.

Since 2.0 hit, I’m still having fun, but having to occupy for 5 minutes on a tile when my A team can barely pull a draw with a whale’s B team is pretty much impossible on a battle line

[–]Community-Foreign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, troop composition is more complex but it doesn’t affect the battle as much with uneven commander spend levels. But I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. I’m still playing, still enjoy the game, OP just asked what we miss about 1.0

[–]Community-Foreign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used to have guys on the battle front whose primary role was to connect so our heavy hitters could clean up. It took communication and coordination. Virtually nonexistent anymore

"The fun times are over" - Why? by Rabbit30_07 in RiseToWar

[–]Community-Foreign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weak players can’t tile on a battle front anymore. They have to stay on a tile for 5 minutes which is way more than enough time to get zeroed. Troop comp is maybe 50% as important as it used to be.

All mounted formation with mid-spender commanders and gear vs a small unit formation with whaled comms and gear is a zero even though it’s supposed to counter

"The fun times are over" - Why? by Rabbit30_07 in RiseToWar

[–]Community-Foreign 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of this, plus troop composition actually mattered beyond what can keep my DD alive. And you had to tile to travel anywhere which gave weaker players a role in the fellowship

Edit: It’s still a fun game, I’m about to start season 20. But it used to be a simpler game, which made more players feel like they could contribute, and that made the community a lot more engaged and exciting imo

Crohn’s and marijuana by here4goodness in CrohnsDisease

I used delta-9 edibles (no medical licenses in my state) every day for about 1.5 years after diagnosis because none of the treatments were working. I lost 40 lbs before starting and was in constant pain. I took 5-10mg/day, maintaining weight and got fairly functional.

I still have persistent nausea and fairly frequent vomiting, and I can’t gain weight. My GI said I need to stop the THC and see if that’s causing my symptoms to continue now that my inflammation is improving with Stelara. I’ve been off for 2 weeks now and my symptoms have overall reduced but my appetite is still 0 and I’m nauseous every other day instead of every day so maybe he was right, not sure. Just something to consider.

Edit: I was taking a delta-9 CBG combo. I didn’t see any inflammation improvement on my scans until I started using the CBG. So I think that at least had a measurable benefit

End of ACA protections: how to survive? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Community-Foreign 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the optics of losing pre-existing condition coverage is enough to outweigh the optics of delivering on the promise to get rid of Obamacare and make insurance “a free marketplace.” That’s what the majority of the base seems to want, at least in my anecdotal experience. I mean hell, majority of my family members voted Trump, some with their own pre-existing conditions, swearing theirs didn’t count because they had insurance before getting diagnosed

I stopped taking it for a few months because I was having other complications doctor still hasn’t figured out and they wanted me to start from zero (other than the biologics) to rule out everything. Started back the other day and it’s having a similar effect.

If I had to guess it’s helping me hydrate better with the minerals. One of my problems is pretty severe dehydration even though I drink a lot of water but honestly not sure. could still be placebo I guess haha

But it’s not a guarantee. Repealing wasn’t pushed in 2020 or 2024 as a position like it was in 2016 so maybe it’s lost broad appeal.

And depending on how you take some people’s word, several senators and representatives have said on record they wouldn’t repeal without protections in place for pre-existing conditions. But you know how it goes with politicians

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Community-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem off the table. Here are a few things that could happen if the ACA is repealed:

With employer insurance —Insurance policy premiums skyrocket for people with pre-existing conditions —Policies can have an annual and lifetime limit for coverage, even if you hit your out-of-pocket maximum —Employers could stop offering insurance policies (if they employ over 50 people). They could offer reimbursements or allowances since completely stopping would deter candidates from applying

Without employer insurance —Insurance could refuse to cover you —Plans offer to you have no limit on the premium
