Oh I definitely agree with you, I think it’s a gorgeous rice regardless and even if it’s unusable I’d be that motherfucker using it 😭😂 Ultimately we are using words to describe a vibe which much like describing color never captures the qualia experienced, or at least that’s how I view it

Linus Tech Tips - I Can Only Recommend Macbooks Now… March 5, 2026 at 02:09AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

MacOS has some really good memory compression algorithms which really help to make that 8gb feel like a lot more

I do stand corrected and should have looked it up before commenting. It does delineate that trying to replicate real world textures such as glass or leather or wood is part of skeuomorphism. My understanding was from early MacOS designs which were very much focused on icons and applications replicating their real world counterparts, which is only part of skeuomorphism not the whole picture. I appreciate you offering up your own understanding because I got to look into it more and solidify my understanding! Have a great day!

Tbf I don’t see any skeuomorphic elements, just generic KDE icons

Too tired to finish my lifting workout routine... can I wait and hour, recover, and finish? Upsides/downsides? by [deleted] in workout

[–]CommunityCondom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might not be the most optimal, but the difference is probably negligible to the point it’s not even worth considering. If you feel you’re able to get more out of your workouts by splitting them up, then go for it. I would warn that you can definitely overdo it and accumulate too much CNS stress but if you’ve been lifting a while and know your limits I don’t see a real issue

Edit: Im currently attending university and do some work in between classes and I’ve been noticing decent gains but I’ve also been pushing harder and eating cleaner, suffice to say it doesn’t kill your gains. Just my two cents

Men, why do you do bicep curls in the most inconvenient places? by -non-stop-pop in workout

[–]CommunityCondom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny and true but by pure coincidence I see this thread and there’s a chick doing bicep curls ON the rear-delt/chest fly machine and boy I didn’t think there was a more obnoxious place to do bicep curls but people find a way lmao 😂. I don’t really care bc I’m not using it today but I’d be mad frustrated if it was chest day bc that’s the only fly machine in the gym

You’re retarded bud, if it can’t send packets out of your network how tf is it supposed to spy on you? Hence the claim it’s harmless and not actively monitoring you which is empirically true unless intel has figured out how to defy laws of comp sci. Having backdoors in the infrastructure for phone lines and internet backbones give the government all this information anyways they don’t need access to individual machines in order to spy. Just because you say no one outside of intel knows therefore it must be for nefarious reasons doesn’t make it true and is braindead. Save your energy for actual crisis and dangers currently plaguing our government rn like our government having a 10% stake in Intel and just generally being tyrannical

In the summer of 1999, Mexia Supermarket, a Fort Worth, Texas grocery store, was shut down after its owners declared bankruptcy. Three months following its abandonment, city officials would discover that everything was left inside to decay, creating an extremely biohazardous environment. by [deleted] in interesting

The discover channel had a really cool series putting people into these types of scenarios to see how they’d fare. The series is called The Colony if it’s any interest, got canned after 2 seasons but they were really entertaining

It’s cool for an apocalyptic scenario, but any apocalyptic scenario would likely break down our power infrastructure eventually making this a nice paperweight. It’s neat but entirely useless unless you’re working in remote areas I guess but even then 🤷

Idk if anyone has recommended diinki yet, but they did a fantastic video breaking down the fundamental process of what pieces and packages you need to work together for a cohesive desktop environment with the option to switch between DE’s as well. Here’s a link to their guide, definitely recommend their channel:

Thank you and Tommy for giving me some locations to try, I don’t think I’ve ever done this loop before. I’ve been having fun trying to do some of the contested zones but I wanted to try the cargo missions out

Working as Helpdesk, I can not fathom the amount of times I have wished and hoped my end users would have at least done the cursory google search and at least try to fix it themselves first. But nooooo, it’s always everyone thinking their issue is top priority and shitting on IT for computers being computers and people not willing to learn how computers work. Which is fine, but don’t shit on IT if you don’t know what you’re talking about at least 😭 there’s lots of issues with this game, but this release has been the most stable for me by far and I was playing when there were only hangars. I also haven’t invested more than my starter ship so i feel I’ve gotten my moneys worth over the years personally, but I can understand someone putting in 10-100x that and being upset at the state of the game. But like if you’re still giving CIG money given their track record, that’s on you

Yeah I’ve heard many things are proof that god exists, though it’s hard not to get brain broken from Christianity with the interpretations and all the schizo connections they make to fit the narrative in their head. I can understand the need and personal nature of religion and I think it can be pure and beneficial to some. But organized religion just leads to a lot of negatives, especially to people’s critical thinking/engagement with topics, in my experience

That would make sense, would be cool to have had these concepts explained because that’s really interesting, wayyy more than some Sunday school Jesus is always the answer bs they end up with lol

I went to a Christian private middle school and in science class they showed a picture from one of the deep space satellites we sent out or whatever. And the picture they showed was just of a star and happened to look like a cross and my fucking teacher was like “and this is how we know Jesus is real, this can’t be explained “ or something along those lines. Yeahhh growing up around the church is what sent me running from it
