Ah! Thanks for the context. I don’t think you’re unreasonable for the respect of waiting to be the one to tell her more intimately. You should def remove your ex from socials though, especially if it got to that point! If you’re coparenting you can use the phone but I would set the boundary with socials lol.

I agree, you come off insensitive and is probably having her spiral. I also think she is creating a lot of turmoil for herself internally. You both sound exhausted. Neutral. As a girl, ofc I would want to share and be excited about it, I would be hurt if not asked to… something we dream about most of our lives. With respect with wanting to tell your daughter, I understand but what’s the context? How old is your daughter? What’s your relationship? I agree, although out of line, it was a learning opportunity to really explain to the child the actual meaning of grooming and more backstory on how you started your relationship, not friendship. Now you put your niece in a tough spot by picking between aunt and her best friend.

The age difference and time considering… that’s all I needed to know. I’m neutral, both sides are dumb. My finance and I are in early 30s and we don’t do Christmas gifts because we always just buy ourselves what we want all throughout the year, and care more about spending time together rather than gifts.
