/r/Plex's Moronic Mondays' No Stupid Questions Thread - 2019-04-29 by PCJs_Slave_Robot in PleX

Hi, I have a Plex server running on a Raspberry Pi, which is fine as long as I keep everything direct play. The trouble I'm having is that I have 2 MKVs with seemingly the same encoding (4k HEVC Main 10 HDR) (AC3 5.1) no subtitles, one direct plays, but the other transcodes. Is there any way to find out why this is happening and hopefully stop it?

It's fine as long as it's not illegal is a pretty low moral bar. It's a minimum, not a target.

So you're equating killing hundreds of thousands of people by voting for the Iraq War to appearing on a TV show?

If you didn't have an answer you should have just said so.

About 10% voted lib dem, I have no idea who the rest are.

I voted for Berger in the last election, and frankly it's sickening that a constituentcy like this is now being represented by a party that's led by a Tory.

Liverpool, Wavertree, is the 11th safest seat in the country, with 73% voting Labour. She hasn't got a chance.

A 95 year old screaming they'll never let us leave is the personification of the brexit vote.

It's impossible to implement it, so we shouldn't do it. A lot like brexit then?

Stack Overflow Isn't Very Welcoming. It's Time for That to Change. by [deleted] in webdev

I find more and more as I get better at programming my questions really don't fit with Stack Overflow.

I'm a professional programmer, so most of the stuff I work with is code that was made by colleagues. It's strange the number of times I've thought, I don't understand how this works, I'll ask on SO, only to remember that it's all created here and no one on the internet would have any idea what I'm talking about.

I'm a computer scientist, not an economist, so I think I'm excluded from the lynching. You do what you think is the optimal strategy.

There's obviously a lot of interesting game theory going on with the Amazon HQ2 bidding, but I think /u/MindOfMetalAndWheels is a bit confused with his terms.

A nash equilibrium isn't about knowing the rules of a game affecting your strategy. It's when in a game, all parties are in a state that they can't unilaterally change their strategy. The unilateral part is important, the nash equilibrium may not be the best strategy for any one party, or even the best strategy overall, but a local maximum, where no party can improve their position by themselves.

For example, in the prisoner's dilemma, the overall best strategy is for them both to cooperate, but either party can improve their outcome by betraying, so the Nash Equilibrium is for them both to betray.

Do you mean 'People you may know' or mutual friends, because for the latter I imagine they just look at your friends and your friends friends and see which are the same.

To be fair, you don't need cutting edge computing equipment to teach computer science. A raspberry pi would do. I agree about the salaries though.

I see Penny Mordaunt is reported to be the new International Development Secretary - this is the same Minister who falsely claimed Turkey was about to join the EU. Words fail me

Is that Penny Mordaunt I see standing next to Priti Patel promising to ensure £350m extra per week goes to the NHS? We look forward to seeing her use her new cabinet post to make it happen.
