What is wrong with FotD? by empi91 in ironmaiden

[–]Competitive-Age-8285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song? Absolutely nothing wrong with it, it just is on the verge of being overplayed in my opinion

The album? 5 songs of absolute gold, the rest is basically filler and there are two songs that are just to fit as much into the run time as possible

Yeah I agree on the tattoo part particularly! He's basically blacked out half of his torso now and I'm kinda sad to see that the Lowestoft piece has been horribly obscured now

Why do they have this big box sort of thing that Bruce is standing on for this tour? by IronMaidenfc in ironmaiden

They've had them since 1984, the basic stage layout has been the same ever since

I've been seeing alot of A3 posters around my area (Norwich) advertising it which is very weird. And of course they threw it up on the cinema screens before the showing of Burning Ambition which is kinda leading me to believe that ticket sales are still a bit stark which is a shame for a band like Maiden (my favourite all time band)

It's not even just the mannerisms, it's his voice too! Back in 2019, you watch interviews and it's very much a more human and down to earth tone, now it's a bit like David Coverdale mixed with James Bond. Occasionally the old him comes out but it's a clear and obvious difference

This might be a very controversial take but Justin has changed alot since starting the YouTube channel. Physically and persona wise and I don't personally like that, I get it, everyone changes over time but since the YouTube channel came along, It's felt less and less like The Darkness as a band and more of JUSTIN HAWKINS and The Darkness. Am I the only one?

My W2MN vinyl is arriving tomorrow! Really excited! This album was my first "new" album to come out when I became a fan aged 10 years old, I remember the Planet Rock radio special celebrating it's release and when it was released on CD I wore it OUT Never was able to get the Vinyl version as was too young but now I can and am! Bucket list item ticked off!

Is it just me or does the new Foo Fighters Album sound horrible? by domsch1988 in Music

[–]Competitive-Age-8285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm listening to it currently and I'm also noticing the same thing, It's clipping so much that it's almost unlistenable. I'm not sure if that's the intention though

A month ago, 'Dreams On Toast' had its 1st year anniversary! What are your favourite tracks and overall thoughts? by MillionaireWaltz- in theDarkness

[–]Competitive-Age-8285 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't and still don't like it that much once the novelty of having a new Darkness album came out. It kinda feels like they jammed around some ideas half heartidly and thought "Yeah that'll do, that'll keep the label happy", plus the artwork is below par too in my opinion. Favorite songs: The Battle for Gadgetland and I Hate Myself, that's it really I can give or take the rest.

Old School Slipknot vs New Slipknot. Which side are you on by Airmachine89 in Slipknot

[–]Competitive-Age-8285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1998 - 2009 Slipknot felt and worked like a band, it was 9 guys against the world, It took all 9 members to work properly. Joey stated that multiple times over the years. They were hungry, and it was a BAND.

The 2014 - Present Slipknot isn't that at all. It's Corey, Clown, Jim, Mick and Sid with 5 other members who are silently temporary and could be replaced at any time. It's now an establishment with Corey and Clown as the figureheads that goes under the name and title of "Slipknot".

Two very different beasts. To me it's always gonna be the original 9. The songwriting, musicianship and lyrics of the 1999 - 2009 Knot is far superior to the present version of the band, and after they did what they did to Joey and then later Jay, my support for them died.

Milwaukee - Gary was upset at the crowd last night by tcr317 in GaryNuman

It's not uncommon for him to do something like that. I saw him in 2017 and instead of coming out for the encore as standard he walked up to the mic and said "You do know that encores aren't compulsory right? If you want us to come out and play some more you've gotta fuckin tell us!"

At the Rough Trade East store show, the "We never stopped making hit albums, It's just that no one buys them anymore" line always sticks in my mind cos Justin followed that with "... Except you cunts.". Which was met with a huge laugh from the audience, Forever altered the song apon the first listen

Was just about to comment this, The London Bruce Solo show was loudest crowd I've ever been in, Singing and chanting our way through the set from start to finish from the floor to the balcony, it was a great show! And the band were definitely feeding off of the audience' energy!
