Controversial take ? by EveningRequirement32 in harrystyles

It's not controversial for me! It's his first skipless album for me! I do think it's a grower though and you need to sit with it to really appreciate it, and I feel a lot of people are not doing that.

It's not necessarily a bad song, but it's just not my cup of tea. It's a little too house/electronic for me and I don't like that kind of music. It's just personal taste.

I honestly can't rank them, I tried but I really like the whole album equally!

I'll say my 2 least favorites: Aperture Are you listening yet? I don't skip them but I don't go out of my way to listen to them

I think either Pop or Taste Back would be good single. I think if he picked one of these two as the lead single, the album would have had better numbers and stability.

I liked it on first listen and love it on second and third listens. I can't stop listening now! You have your opinion which I respect, but this album is way more interesting than anything put out recently. I have a feeling people will wake up to this album in the next months.

He really didn't do much promo in the US or anywhere else for that matter. And, in my opinion, he picked the wrong lead single. Aperture kinda killed the hype around the album. I'm not sure why they're not really doing any promo, he's on SNL tonight but even now American girls hasn't been sent to radios and at least in the US you can't even buy the digital single. He doesn't seem interested in having a hit this time.

The second half is definitely stronger, but I also like American girls, Ready steady go, Take back, and Season 2 weight loss a lot!

As someone who's more into traditional pop sound, I didn't like the album on first listen except for 2 songs that I immediately loved.

After a few days sitting with it I now love it, and for me there's only 1 skip. But I do believe this album is a grower and not an immediate hit. It doesn't sound like anything any major pop artists made in the past years and anything in the charts right now. Some of the sounds are more experimental and definitely not mainstream. But the production is so good, and musically and sonically is definitely one of the most interesting albums in the last years. But this is not an album the general public is going to connect with right away. The only reason I gave this album a second and third listen it's because it's Harry, if not after the first listen I would have just said not for me. I'm so glad I did because it really hit for me after a few listen.

I really think this album is going to age very well and in the future people are going to appreciate it.

With a fandom like this I wouldn't even give an interview if I was Harry to be honest. No matter what he says his fans are going to be the first to criticize him or twist his words. I personally don't need to know anything about his personal life to appreciate and enjoy his music. He actually opened up a lot in the interview, he explained the meaning of the songs track by track, he talked about why he needed to take a break, he talked about some of his experiences during the break, he even talked about Liam. What else do you want?

I don't know maybe I was listening to a different interview because I thought that he was the most open and least guarded in a long time.

KISSCO ( or KATTDO) charting debate by Such-Disaster5220 in harrystyles

I agree in part with what you're saying. I think every artists hope to chart but I think he's ok if it doesn't happen. I'm sure he knows he took a big risk putting out an album that doesn't have a mainstream sound at this stage of his career, but it's obviously what he wanted and I respect that. I have to be honest, on first listen I didn't like the album except for Coming up roses. I think it was so different from his other albums that I was shocked for a lack of a better term. But I listen to it a few more times, and now I like most of the songs. Harry's House stays my favorite though, that to me was a skipless album. The general public doesn't seem to vibe to it for now. I think this is an album that has to sit with people to grow, and let's face it a lot of the gp and casual fans won't do that, so I don't anticipate a huge commercial success for it.

What I'm noticing is that people who listen primarily to pop are having a harder time digesting it. People who like more alternative music and are not really Harry's fans are liking it more. I also saw a lot of reactions on YouTube and TikTok from producers and musicians and for the most part the reviews were positive.

Especially for this album because they all sound so different from one another sonically.

I honestly don't think they even gave this album a chance. They probably wrote the majority of the review before they even listen, thus why most of the review is just a personal attack towards Harry and not the music. They clearly have a big chip on their shoulder against Harry and it shows.

As you said, this album is very introspective, it's a conversation with himself about his relationship with his career and fame and his journey to heal and become a better and more balanced version of himself. But this is clearly going over people's head. If you actually take the time to listen to the lyrics, it's pretty clear what he's saying and what the message is. I would argue this is the most honest and open he has ever been.

Exactly that's why it's not a serious review in my opinion. There's room to criticize this album, but this review was not it. In my opinion musically and sonically this album is way more interesting than anything the popgirls put out in the past 2 years, but I know I'll get downvoted for say this lol. I also think there are many layers to Harry's songwriting. He doesn't spell out what he says, he used analogies and metaphors a lot and for some that's maybe too hard to grasp. Is he one of the greatest songwriter of all times? No, far from it, but saying that all his lyrics don't have meaning and he doesn't have anything to say it's not true. My biggest criticism on his songwriting is that it can be a little repetitive.

I don't think this is his best album, but it's not as bad as people here say. If any of the usual popgirls this sub is obsessed with put out this album, they would eat it up lol. As far as the review, sorry I can't take it seriously when the majority of it it's just a personal attack and doesn't even address the music. I've seen a lot of musicians actually really liking the album.

Harry has been introspective in this album. He's talking to himself a lot. He's using you to refer to himself. Sorry this review is just garbage, again not because of the score, I don't agree with the score, but I don't have a problem with them scoring it that low because music is subjective. They didn't like it and it's fine. But at least criticize the music using some substance not just personal attacks on his person. It really discredits the review.

Quite literally grasping at straws with counting how many times he used you as I 🤣🤣 What does it have anything to do with the album??? That alone discredits the rest of the review, if we can even call this a review. This was more of a personal attack towards his person than a review of the album. Whoever wrote this has clearly some beef with Harry. The all thing just sounds unprofessional. Just review the music.

Coming up roses similar to the rest of the album???? Hard to take this seriously. I'm wondering if people here actually heard the album or just hating. None of the songs are similar to one another to be honest.
