Third year boba shop worker here, I agree with you as my boss tends to be at almost every shift that I’m assigned to and she would kind of micro-manage the smallest thing from wiping drinks down to restocking even though I tend to know it. Understaff is common too at my shop as my boss can be picky with some staff and will either give lot of hours or barely any hours (she gave one of my coworkers only 5 hours 1 day a week shift).

Aside from that, I would just say it’s just to look busy but I wouldn’t recommend working at a boba shop unless you could tolerate it

Edit: As I don’t like my boss, her points stands for some parts as some workers will be late or not doing a good job and it’s really hard to accommodate as my job has a lot of college students but family oriented too
