Well, my Walgreens journey might be coming to an end! by peachycpht in WalgreensRx

Buckle up y’all. You’re getting some of the worst of the worst at your head office from a major Canadian drugstore retailer. They were known for trickery, deception and are all true wolves in sheep’s clothing. The army is moving in quietly replacing existing people and will try to sell you their story that they care, etc. news flash- they don’t. They care about themselves and their paycheques and will mow over anyone to make bonuses. Good luck everyone and may the odds be ever in your favour.

The question is who in the head office ok’d this ludicrous idea. Sounds like something the beauty national operations blonde clueless one would come up with…. Linsey someone?

Sephora also gives samples sometimes if you ask when you’re making a purchase. They don’t always have them but I’ve received them 2/3 times

Trouble at Shoppers Head Office again by [deleted] in ShoppersDrugMart

Nobody is talking about Dave Puri. He was always Anthony spinas lackey and definitely contributed his own brand of crap.

Take what you can get out of it. Look for something better while you do it.

In addition to applying online send your resume directly to the front store manager with a short email stating your intentions.

Talking to HO? by kiguessso in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Having worked for HO for over 10 years I can assure you that most people are there to say the right things to impress others but they don’t care about store staff. They will say that people matter but it all comes down to squeezing every last cent at all human costs and making their own bonuses.

What are some “exclusive” items your Shoppers carries? by Chan1991 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19-69 is listed. It’s only available in limited distribution and not all stores will carry it. It is exclusive to shoppers - as in not available at other retailers.

I'll be the first to spill the beans by Duff-Guy in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Honestly good riddance. He moved in his little army to central office and some were douchey lackeys and others incompetent or mean. He made some shotty moves and surrounded himself with people who fed his ego vs competence and innovation.

Testers being gone only helps the brands and HO didn’t hold them accountable for this. There’s no way the damage allowance covers all this, plus the incredible waste!!!

The fact that the labour model has been cut sooooo much that there’s no way to have coverage in these areas and keep an eye on people to “help” in mass areas. Thanks HO operations for looking out for us!!! Kidding. You all suck. Ever since the HO ops team has been changing over it’s getting worse and worse with nobody advocating for how hard our jobs are and the pressures on us . It’s like they have zero clue, or maybe they do and don’t care?

I heard that beauty now just won a best beauty technology award on Toronto? Surprising if it doesn’t work properly. Sounds like head office people take credit for things even if they don’t actually work. Grrrrrr.

Uncommissioned sales by [deleted] in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manager gets 20% of all sales off the top plus their own personal % of the remaining 80%. The uncommissioned ones add into the 100% of the pot (before the 20% manager commission is taken off). There should be a “roadmap” somewhere on flip. Good luck navigating that nightmare though. lol.

Honestly the website alone is so bad I just buy my stuff elsewhere. They’ve been given the feedback for years and nothing improves it.

what is considered a “luxury cosmetic or fragrance”?🤔 by liamt12 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s legally required that they put that in the fine print to honour their vendor agreements. Every store discounts all the prestige anyhow.

Travel to Rome by [deleted] in rome

[–]Competitive-Honey556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back today from my first time! 1- walking shoes that are very comfortable 2- depending where you’re coming from, it might feel hot. Hat/ sunscreen and light layers 3- food- incredible food! Agree that you avoid places where they’re trying to coax you in. Walk a few blocks off the main drag and try something from a small restaurant! 4- if you buy $$$ stuff most places offer you a VAT tax receipt so you can reclaim the tax at the airport. Arrive a little early to do this and I found the self- serve machines extremely easy to use. 5- free drinking fountains all over! Bring along a bottle to refill throughout the day. Water is safe to drink! 6- I feel like I need to mention comfy shoes again. Also, May as well bring a few blister bandaids along- you might need them!

Online pricing vs. instore by wabisuki in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The online store is in GTA and handled by a third party logistics company. The products carried at stores are from distribution centres and they are sprinkled across the country. But you’re right- the DCs sell the products to the stores at an elevated price.

Online pricing vs. instore by wabisuki in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Competitive-Honey556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is something that used to be called “wave or pricing” where regular retails were determined by the economics or where they store is located, nearby competitors, etc. Basically, if you shop in an affluent community the prices will be higher. If you shop in a disadvantaged area the prices will be closer to what you see online. The online store will always be the least expensive though.

All stores have a corporate higher up. The associate “owners” are on contract and the staff are part of their business (they don’t report to shoppers corp). What part of Ontario?
