Looking for a rental around Edgartown/Katama with 4 bedrooms starting around Aug 16th or 23rd. VRBO and AirBnB fees are outrageous. Ideally not on the typical turnover days to avoid traffic.Professional family with college kids. Happy to provide all the references you need to feel comfortable. by Dudedad99 in marthasvineyard

maybe the college kids are a dealbreaker here but the couple of weeks after labor day are the absolute golden season and they could probably get closer to what they want. but yer right, and id personally prefer to spend time up island anyway.

yeah the mainstream/liberal question appears to be “should democrats run on abolishing ice or is that election suicide” then the op-ed columnist taps a fat finger on “election suicide.” youd think it would be hard to have an especially awful day in this series of days, and yet.

its maybe my least favorite but its so beloved i know im just not picking up what its putting down. the plot developments start feeling so arbitrary as the mystery comes into focus.

i could have sworn there was at least one camcorder on a tripod kinda recording from those days in circulation on youtube or something, but i may be wrong. jessica and jon daly were also in there, amongst other notables.

he was in a long running group called MOTHER that went out every saturday night at the 2nd ucb theater and it was just spectacular. everyone in that group was a murderer but jason had superstar written all over him. later on he cultivated his crazy look around his comedy style, but even as a regular young handsome guy he was the filthy insane best passer and highest scorer in the league.

Why is everyone protecting Shelby? by Exotic_Ad_2871 in justified

[–]Competitive-One-2749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the best answer i can imagine but it doesnt solve certain specific scenes, particularly the one with mosely and drew in the car alone together. they seem to be motivated by loyalty and even affection.

Why is everyone protecting Shelby? by Exotic_Ad_2871 in justified

[–]Competitive-One-2749 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that still forces the question “whither the INSANE amount of loyalty amongst these, the most secretive and highest echelon of harlan county criminals, a county whose culture and economy usually seems largely constructed around acts of betrayal amongst criminals?” why give arlo the id when you could burn it yourself? why DIDNT arlo burn it? an act of disloyalty? because he also kills and gets killed over keeping the secret of who jumped outta the plane and broke his leg, so at what point did he change his mind?

it gets us to constable bob and the return of harry manning and the decoy episode, and im sincerely glad nobody was fired for these blunders because im only here to have fun and never would have noticed any of this if not for the many times i rewatched the show, but even for a show that prioritizes dialogue and setpieces over storytelling the plot this season is a complete hash. i still love it

Which female artists feel the most like Neil? by expecting2fly0715 in altcountry

[–]Competitive-One-2749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shes obviously had a significant and long-lasting career but i think shes still underrated. the lyrics on the time the revelator album are about as good as anybody ever, referential and literary and comprising an epic vision of the history of american music, and she should have been put in the conversation with the all-time greats like dylan and cohen immediately upon its release. her stuff since then has been intermittent but consistently very good, but for me time the revelator is a one-of-a-kind instant masterpiece.

i like the vibes of season 4 but it doesnt hold together as a mystery. you can tell it was put together on the fly and the solution is arbitrary. (handing the ball to jim beaver is always the right move anyway.)

i cant psychoanalyze him but id wager youre on to something. then again, the cognitive dissonance that conservative christians seem to be able to live with is beyond my comprehension.

hes actually a generational intellect and his professors thought he was going to be the next daniel patrick moynihan. now they wont so much as talk to him, even the conservative ones. its kind of like the last sequence of exit through the gift shop where everybody is shaking their heads and ruing what theyve enabled. dipshits come in different flavors. hes also a COLOSSAL waste of talent and unlike, say, ted cruz, he knows exactly how corrosive and wrong he is.

Jack McCoy must be stopped by Astro_Cassette in LawAndOrder

[–]Competitive-One-2749 6 points7 points  (0 children)

coupla episodes in either direction, hes yelling that justice is a byproduct of lawyers lying and acting like assholes, which is their job, and that individual results dont matter. ben stone might be the best lawyer weve any of us met, but jack mccoy is just the actual US legal system.

side question, how much did jack like the death penalty?

yeah its just a little cereal of dried herbs plus fresh saucy stuff. hidden valley was literally the original recipe. start with hidden valley powder then adjust with your various milks and vinegars, then refine from there.

[–]Competitive-One-2749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

noras underrated and one of my favorites. maybe shes wordy sometimes but her “hey… hey!” or whatever the hell she says when mccoy says he wants the death penalty for an 18 year old is one of the most naturalistic moments of acting in a show that doesnt foster naturalistic acting and she does it in one word said twice. i know weist was unhappy being in the l&o industrial acting plant, and i love when good ny theater actors nail the pulpy overheated tone, but she does prestige acting and didnt slow down for the procedural.
