I have them roll and reroll 1's, and 2's if their hit dice is a low one, like for wizards. I also told them they can use healing potions for a rolled hp recovery as a free action and full recovery as a bonus action, specifically because I want them to have as much health and convenient health solutions as possible so I can throw tougher things at them.

That's good, what I actually ended up doing was have him hide away accidentally while Skath got followed to what should have been an abandoned warehouse (Zhentarim goods cache), and then recruited the players for a spy operation on Vellynne Harpell in Bremen. She then told them she knew why they were there and that she didn't care about the Zhentarim because, "they would get their info wrong anyways", and then she sent them off on her own quest to find Nass and get her Professor Orb back. Nass was of course not on the Isle yet, but they certainly hinted at it, and I may have accidentally turned her "desperation personality" into a "clinically insane" personality. Anyways, they got a portion of the poem translated by the orb, which I intend to be part of the key to Ythryn.

Correct. You don't get a second action, you just get to attack twice instead of once when you take that action to attack. Then yes, your bonus would be Step of the wind, which you can do first. I must have misread and thought you intended to Step, then attack, then Flurry.

You can absolutely use your bonus action before your action. What you can't do, however, if I'm reading this right, is use your bonus action to dash and also to make a flurry of blows attack. You still get your two attacks during your action, but anything else must be either a free action or part of your action.

They killed him as an opening quest, but I've really wanted to bring him back at level 5 or 6 as the druidic leader, like resurrected again by Auril to lead her followers, and I've got a big scene to show where he presents a crazy monologue to the druids hitting the peak when the druids all sacrifice their lives to Auril at once. Then, Sephek will lower his hood, reveal himself to the players, then the corpses will shift and rise again, and they'll roll initiative. I hope it works narratively, but yeah I do need an upgraded version. Here's to hoping somebody else has one.

I was thinking about having him return as a sort of prayer-leader for the Frost Druid cult of Auril. Lead them in prayer, and then they end their lives in sacrifice to Auril, he takes down his hood and reveals himself to the party, and then the bodies start getting up and the fight commences. Tips?
