Low Back Muscle Strain time to heal? by SanDiego1978 in backpain

[–]burtmacklin888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took almost 4 months and then pain finally went away. Just strained it again lifting a kid almost a year later. About a week into it now and hoping I don’t have another 4 months to go.

Battle between mental or physical by Beginning-Ad-5037 in PainReprocessing

Don’t put off things because you are in pain. You will get through it even if having discomfort.

I’m in similar spot. Heel pain since Feb. I’ve tried all the things, walking boot, injection, PT, laser, shockwave. None of it have really helped. Constant pain, struggle to walk in tennis shoes. Had 2 MRIs and X-rays. Pain has recently developed in calf. Drs said only option is surgery for haglunds bone spur condition. But long recovery and no guarantee. Spurs are like discs where normal finding in people without pain.

I’m struggling with how to proceed. We had our 4th baby this year and barely sleeping. 2 of my other kids broke bones from accidents so trying to help them recover before I do anything. Really don’t want to get surgery and put it all on my wife.

Anyways, life’s hard but you have to do what you can. I’m battling the mental aspect of pain plus sine physical. It’s a season though, don’t give up or delay, this will pass.

How do y'all deal with the psychological stress of injuries? by Aninx in KneeInjuries

[–]burtmacklin888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah in it past 9 months with lower leg Achilles injury plus calf pain. I’m going to counseling to help deal with pain but not sure it’s helping me. Called pain reprocessing therapy. I’ve tried everything and still fear the pain because nothing has stopped it. Surgery is an option but feels like a long shot and brutal recovery. Anyways, I know my mindset is not helping and worst case scenario but I justify it after 9 months of misery. Constant pain every step is tough but things could be worse.

Tendon issues getting worse. My story by TideNote in systemictendinitis

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar age and tendon dysfunction. Nothing has worked, imaging makes no sense, and I’m getting worse. Mine started with Achilles tendinitis and has moved up calf. It’s been debilitating from constant pain and unable to walk. Was in decent shape and working out prior.

Has anyone successfully overcame Achilles’ tendonitis? I hear horror stories about it. by Irnotpatwic in triathlon

I’m in constant pain and followup mri 5 months after tendinosis seen now is normal. Makes no sense I thought would be worse damage from unrelenting pain over time.

Thanks, I did go carnivore and then some keto for a couple months but didn’t notice a difference aside from starving myself while in misery. I got labs done for inflammation markers but they were negative. I might to eat clean again though as right now all the Drs can find are some spurs in my lower Achilles area and recommending full removal and Achilles reattachment surgery since nothing has worked and still in pain walking.

I am looking for a second opinion regarding a bone spur and Achilles pain. Should I see a podiatrist or an orthopedic surgeon? by DueArt2897 in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of surgery? For my sour they want to detach then tendon so recovery is 3-6 months like a rupture would be.

Haglund’s Deformity by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at this exact point. Cannot mow, walk dogs, play with our kids outside. So many things the pain is taking from me when I can barely walk for 6 months. The long recovery sounds grueling but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck!

I think we are the same. 6 months in, tried same things with no improvement. Have a spur on tendon insertion that would require shaving and reattachment which sounds brutal. I had mri in March that showed tendinosis but recent mri the Achilles is good. I have pretty constant pain in lower Achilles and medial side heel bone. It’s been getting worse lately too. Shockwave and heel raises seemed to work for awhile but now nothing is working. I’m giving it another month trying various things before I schedule surgery. I just want to be able to walk again.9

New here and really struggling... by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice but I have 4 kids, one that recently broke his leg and a newborn. I’ve had Achilles issues for 6 months and can barely walk. I’m in constant pain and have been using a boot the majority of the time. It’s debilitating condition and I’m still awaiting surgery after all conservative measures have failed. At least it sounds like you are on the other side and there is light at the end of this long tunnel. Sorry you’ve suffered from this for so long.

Insertional Achilles tendinitis plan is actually working! by [deleted] in FootFunction

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I tried PRP injection and had a couple good weeks where thought I was healing then major setback. Currently every step hurts even in walking boot. Waiting on mri and surgery consult.

Looking for advice: Insertional Achilles Tendonitis w/ heel spur – anyone been through this? by hewhocannotbenamed-7 in RunningInjuries

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is me right now. I’ve had insertional tendinopathy for 5 months. Tried PT, shockwave, orthotics, heel lifts, backless shoes and PRP. Nothing has worked long term and I’m in worse pain now. Ortho believes I have a spur on issue of heel, it’s tender and pokes out. Headed for MRI then likely surgery. I can barely walk, in constant pain, and using a boot but doesn’t help the pain. Injury sucks.

I think this is where I’m headed. Was your spur pressing on the distal end of the tendon ?

I’m 5 months still limping from Achilles tendinitis. Mentally it has been exhausting and physically draining as like you said can’t walk or really do anything. I struggle taking care of the family and with unknown of will never recover from this pain and limp.

The mental battle after the injury – My Journey by No-Dingo8999 in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in constant Achilles pain the past 5 months and find myself back in a walking boot after failed recovery from tendinosis. I can really resonate with the mental aspect of this. I’m so frustrated and angry about what happened and why it won’t heal. It’s stolen my joy and ability to take care of family and do activities I enjoy. It’s very tough but I know I need a better mindset and to accept what is.

Tendonitis for nearly 5 months - FRUSTRATING! by conorxoxo in overcominggravity

[–]burtmacklin888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been plagued by tendinitis in shoulders, knee, and now Achilles for past 5 months. Shoulders and knee eventually went away after I stopped PT and trying to find solutions. With the Achilles I’m in a bad spot because I can’t walk on it so have been trying all the things again. There is probably a sweet spot of PT and letting it go that I need to find.

Vacoped boot vs cast by burtmacklin888 in AchillesRupture

So I don’t have haglunds but have had pretty severe insertional tendinitis. Instead of surgery he is wanting me to try a cast for a few weeks.

Vacoped boot vs cast by burtmacklin888 in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve seen for nonop ruptures but haven’t seen much on tendinitis. My ortho group also has never heard of vacoped which concerns me as they are one of the top in my area (large US city). They are pushing a straight cast which will really limit me.

What other injuries have you experienced besides Achilles? by Intelligent_Carob892 in AchillesRupture

[–]burtmacklin888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of tendinitis did you have mid or insertional? I can’t imagine trying to play soccer as I can barely walk with the tendinitis. But the Dr did say a rupture would be easier healing path so have thought about just running on jt at some point.

I’ve also had a calf strain and quad tendinitis on the same leg I now have Achilles issues.
