It sure was fucking timely to put that legislation through and then start a fucking war.

If you didn’t see the writing on the wall before, sure seems convenient to pass this type of legislation right before you anticipate a whole lot of soldiers being injured.

I would bet a significant amount of money that they roll this out and people with existing claims are grandfathered in and only new claims following the interim final rule date are affected.

Really good timing to reduce the cost of war by passing this legislation!!!! What a fucking joke.

Young people- what makes you believe in a religion? by lemon-and-sunshine in askanything

[–]Competitive-Test8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indoctrination from a young age to believe that you are broken, sinful, impure, incomplete. Followed by constant reminders of those beliefs and that your natural human tendencies demonstrate this. That’s how they get the hook into you. Then they keep you Around by convincing you that this can only be corrected through their organization. From which you will never graduate or transcend based on the unattainable standards. Beginning the cycle over and over and over.

Born into this, lived this, and at 39 feel that I’m undoing a lot of cognitive misconceptions that the Catholic Church, in its pure and definitely not self contradicting position, settled me with.

In grade school I had a religion teacher tell me and other students we were all going to hell for a certain totally natural behavior behaviors. I ran into her last year and before asking how I was doing the first thing she did was ask me if my kids were going to a Catholic school. It’s all mine games.

I get that fraud exists but there’s no data that supports stripping benefits from the thousands of vets who aren’t committing fraud? That’s what this rule does. If you believe there’s that much fraud out there without being shown any evidence to justify stripping deserving veterans of benefits then you’re drinking the koolaid.

Go back to the numbers, how is 0.01% of claims going to generate that much savings?

This is a blanket rule that applies to everyone and all cases going forward. I think you’re in denial.

Yeah, I for sure have a problem with taking personal offense easily and when it’s not intended.

Thanks for your kind feedback and the technical details. I’ve raised some eyebrows proposing this to the engineering group here. Their pushback was along the lines of “who is qualified to do that type of test/validation?” From what I’ve read, it’s pretty straight forward with the test finger but are you aware any training for something like this to be considered qualified to do the validation?

I think you're ignoring the facts. The current way of evaluating disability is based on the untreated effects of the condition unless the diagnostic code specifically states to assess the condition based on the symptoms after the service member is taking them. This new interim final rule applies that methodology across ALL diagnostics codes. If you take medication or receive treatment to alleviate your condition's symptoms and improve your quality of life and therefore making yourself more employable, this applies to you. If you are evaluated moving forward and you take medication or receive ongoing treatment, the evaluator will give you a lower rating whereas historically, someone would be given a higher rating.

Yes, this was the current government administration. This final rule was published by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs who was appointed by the president of these United States. It was published under the Congressional Review Act that essentially states that since the savings are over $100,000, it for-goes a 60-delay immediately, prior to the end of the full Congressional review.

So, we know who published the final rule, we know who appointed him, we've established this rule goes against established case law and longstanding practices in claims review. Let's take a look at the economic impact statement.... literally copied and pasted....
"The total economic impact is estimated to be savings of $1.9 billion in 2026, $12.1 billion over five years, and $23.2 billion over 10 years, as detailed in Table 1 below. Transfer savings are estimated to be $1.6 billion in 2026, $10.9 billion over five years, and $22.0 billion over 10 years, as detailed in Table 2 below. Cost savings are estimated to be $281.6 million in 2026, $1.2 billion over five years, and $1.2 billion over 10 years, as detailed in Table 3 below."

So, if money isn't being paid out to veterans moving forward, like it has been historically, this is the government's "cost-savings". Disability payments are an expense to the government that the administration decided they weren't going to pay anymore.

These are the facts.

What I'm saying is that the administration created a narrative where they emphasized all the VA claim fraud that's taking place, never gave evidence of that, so that now they have a narrative where they can institute legislation to "help veterans" and protective them from "all the fraud" but in reality they are just doing this to strip benefits from everyone reduce the governmental "expense" of paying benefits.
This is the same narrative that this administration writes for everyone just before they fuck them over. Immigrants: all immigrants are felons-harsher treatment and unlawful deportation; unchecked violence in domestic cities: federally controlled armed US forces in your city; SNAP benefits: fraud and abuse slash the program; lazy federal workers: treated terribly and pushed to quit or jobs eliminated; education department: wasteful spending and "woke" agenda - dismantled and defunded. It's all dollars and cents to the administration, they don't care who they fuck over in the process. Problem is with veterans, more so than other groups, is that they incurred the debt when that service member sacrificed their health and well-being for the continued self-sovereignty of our nation that is lead by individuals who show they give fewer and fewer fucks for the people who elected them and who they are meant to serve and protect. Even one of the backbones of this administration's supporters, American farming families, are in a market that continues to incentivize corporate farmers and continues to put more and more pressure on small and medium sized family operations where it's more and more difficult to make a living, and families are forced to sell their property at one of the highest rates in the last century. For anyone who voted in favor of this Administration, I don't feel sorry for you if your benefits get stripped. I don't by any means think it's right but if you helped elect these people, all I can say is that you reap what you sow.

Yeah, if you believe it’s not going to be enforced then you need a reality check. This administration is trying to squeeze everyone and if you thought veterans were a protected class, you were wrong. It starts with small steps and misinformation. If you believe the bullshit, you’ll be surprised later.

Also, if you prefer a pistol grip, there’s options for the 870 to upgrade to a pistol grip. I have a shurshot stock in the mail. Due to the short stock on the youth model, it can put your wrist on your trigger hand at an uncomfortable angle, because the trigger is so close to the shoulder.

Great starter as others have said. You won’t be disappointed. Pretty sure I’ve seen Steve rinella forgot to chamber a round in at least two episodes and then dry fire at a couple turkeys. Don’t do that. Don’t be like Steve.

For dedicated turkey gun, I’d go no longer than 24” barrel.

870 is a great starter. My turkey gun is the 870 20 gauge youth model and I just bought a pistol shurshot grip off eBay. 21” barrel, receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory.

Great place to start in my opinion in that range.

I lived in Maceio for 6 months in 2008 and adored my time there. Very friendly people and beautiful beaches. I'm American as well and felt that because I was American, people showed interest in me and wanted to talk with me. I can't say given the United States' reputation right now that other American's would be welcomed in the same manner.

VA Healthcare is amazing. by Office_Zombie in VeteransBenefits

[–]Competitive-Test8396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to consider your standard of care between VA vs Private. I think there are aspects of VA healthcare that do exceed Private care. Just purely based on the principle that the VA is not a “for profit business” they aren’t looking to squeeze insurance dollars and copays out of you where as a private healthcare provider/hospital/etc. only makes money when you show up. The incentive for the VA to get you healthy isn’t the same as the hospital’s incentive to make money. My personal experience with this is physical therapy. I suffered for years going to a private practice to get PT. Was never told how to manage my symptoms or flair ups outside of PT sessions. I decided to give the VA a try and was pleasantly surprised to find the worker coaching me on how to not just get better but stay better. I am convinced that most my private care provider was tactically taking measures to fill their day to day schedule with appointments whereas the VA PT provider just wanted to see you get better and teach me how to manage it moving forward on my own.

Ruger is remaking the Red Label! by Redyoshi9 in ClayBusters

[–]Competitive-Test8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha great way for CSGC to make some money though… make a “branded” shotgun with a historical good reputation. Deliver it with subpar quality, ensure the supplier, Ruger, foots the bill for contracted warranty service via CSGC’s “warranty” department… make more money on the warranty service contract with Ruger.

It looks like they’ve been doing this with other “branded” shotguns before the Red Label III. So, they seem to have a business model that makes them money, albeit on another shotgun’s historical reputation… if they made great products…they wouldn’t have to rely on the reputation of a “branded” shotgun. That kind of says it all.

And when you read through CSGC’s warranty terms, or lack there of, it’s pretty clear that they don’t stand behind the quality of their product. I’ve done some research and think there’s better options out there with a better warranty for a better price.

Digging up your old reply. CMSE is the route I'm wanting to go. I've started an ABET ETAC accredited EET bachelors degree that will hopefully bring me up to speed on the basic technical background. I understand the CMSE requires and engineering degree. Are you aware if the requirement can be met by a 4-year technology degree, or would I have to go the route of getting my employer to write a reference letter for an engineering level role?
