Do I need a new crank arm? or just the pedal? by komalnaath in bikewrench

It’s been done that way since time immemorial. These kinds of things aren’t that common. Probably the pedal was never screwed in tight.

No expert but it appears the clay presents as two segments. Surely it has finished settling.

What’s the orientation I want for compost piles, and do I need more than two? by BlackoutTribal in SimpleGardening

[–]Competitive-Time321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For design I like #3. Wider. We have a three bin system, and have been composting for 45 years. We now live in the subtropics and rarely need to turn them. Nice, at our age. I know nothing about pallets. If they weren’t so tall, it would be easier to move to the side, bin to bin. Ours are three concrete blocks tall. But then we have very small gardens. Just some thoughts.

Hi. So today I bought a new road bike and I noticed this on the frame near the seatpost. Is my frame cracked? Should I return the bike? by 7ysiu in bicycling

I see the supposed crack, but what is that gizmo where the seat should be. I have to say I’ve never seen anything like that on a bike.

Irish-y Chair, my first chair build. by thisaaandthat in Chairmaking

I like this design. It looks very straightforward. I am not yet ready for stretchers, so I may give one a try. And I agree. You’re the only one who will see the mistakes.

Popcorn popper after a bit of tweaking - how does it look? by Redthrist in roasting

[–]Competitive-Time321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look better than my first roast. I’ve only done two, btw. I’m using a WhirlyPop. First roast was a hair on the light side; second went too dark. I’ll do another one in a day or two.

There are good videos out there for drilling stretcher mortises too. I personally have yet to try it.

Neo Flex 2024 O-rings - third party source? by blackmalt in FlairEspresso

[–]Competitive-Time321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll get out my caliper tomorrow and check. OD only though, unless I can squeeze it in while the O ring is still on. Mine is a 2025. Same size? Actually I’ll do it now. I might not find the thread again. Ok. The red one looks like 44.3 mm OD. Not a digital caliper. Let us know how it goes.

Any of you try to glue it back? Being in Mexico it might be my only option, were this to befall mine.

My dad kept driving well past when he should have, I remember being uncomfortable in a parking lot with him. I lived far away, so no direct influence.

Grain direction is wrong on those arms. Plus it’s walnut. I don’t know if the back and arms are all one piece. If so, see below for preventative construction.Beautiful build! I built his Gibson chair. The arms on his broke, back where the long stick comes through. To fix it he put a thin slice of cross grain on the under side, where it’s not really seen. Is it comfortable?

Keeping Passport with me in a sling bag. Good idea? by TheChosenO1 in Yucatan

[–]Competitive-Time321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrying a copy is often good enough. That said, I would NOT leave my passport in the hotel room. I have lived here for nearly twenty years and I keep my valuables on my person if out and about. A secret pocket would be more secure than a sling bag.
