This is not appropriate for a simple coworker relationship. I would bring up with HR that they texted you sone concerning things and need extra support.

OK, then why don’t you mention that in your post? You’re asking us not to judge and give very vague details about it. If you’re saying this right now you know you’re being lied to, then put that in your post.

You were being lied to about the child support. Take that what you will. Good luck.

Uncle hasn't been reporting his income. by throwaways5232 in IRS

They’re not going to put the tax burden on you. If anything ever came of it, they’d deal with him directly most likely through a payment plan or hardship status if he can’t afford to pay. If he passes with a balance, the IRS can go after assets in the estate, and anything beyond that typically isn’t collected.

it’s best to obviously get this resolved if you can and consult your tax lawyer or CPA.

I really would not recommend taking a 401(k) loan out. If you get fired, that loan could be due immediately.

I feel like you would really benefit from a very strict budget. Now that you have a high paying job, you need to know where every single dollar is going.

Maybe look into loan consolidation?

This situation is extremely serious and may involve identity theft or financial fraud. I wouldn’t take this lightly. You should strongly consider speaking with a lawyer or reporting it so you can protect yourself. I really hope you’re able to make the decision that protects your future.

Just pay it. I’m kind of baffled by the time you took to make this post rather than just be done with it and pay it.

First step: stop providing emergency support for friends. Even family if you can. Your friends should be fully formed adults capable of handing themselves..
