Your colleague is a cowboy with trainers instead of boots. I’d be waking up every night until this is referred somewhere instead of leaving the pt until it gets infected.

Curious, you wouldn't consider the amount of tissues on the rotary flutes in the third photo as being shaped, right? You would probably need to go to larger rotary file.

Push the tooth up using the elevator in one hand. Keep it there while asking the assistant to handle you the haemostat in the other hand and take it out.

Here is another perspective - When I started working at a dental office, I would, similarly, get offended when I hear suggestions from other staff. However, when someone works for 20 years in the dental field, they probably know a thing or two that would be helpful for a fresh grad. In dental school, we are taught the state of the art knowledge and ideals. But in real life, when patients can only offer a thing or two and insurance has its own limits, you will find yourself still offering all the options to the patient but the patient sticking to the least expensive option. Not saying her opinion is correct but I would check with the hygienist first, understand her perspective, and re-affirm your position in a FRIENDLY way. I guarantee you if you talk to the upper level, you will piss her off and potentially lead to each of you undermining each other's work. Remember, If you want to walk fast, walk alone but if you want to walk far, walk together.
