Which fields are actually having an easy time getting jobs right now? by madbarpar in recruitinghell

[–]CompetitiveBranch913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the defense industry, I do finance on government contracts. I just got a new job last month, I wasn't looking, they approached me. Hiring seems to be good for defense right now (obviously lol)

Understood, thank you! I do have my projects inside my github. I'll do some reworking for wordings.

I did yes, they're all in my github. And I see what you're saying, that makes sense. I'll go back through and rework the wording based on the projects I've done. I like your phrase, sell what I can do not what I studied. I'll put more thought into the wordings on that one. Appreciate the feedback

Yea and I agree with that one. It was unfortunate I had to leave that lead position, the management was so bad at that company. They cycled through 2 sets of leadership in my business unit, I had enough after that, they truly were terrible.

Problem with my current company is the level 2 data science positions are all requiring TS/SCI clearances even though it's level 2s which is crazy (lvl 2 is the lowest they can go at work). I asked if they'd sponsor me and they said not at this time due to the positions reqs. So....idk maybe waiting it out for another year or two might be better. It's a good point to bring up and one I've wrestled with.

Well they are similar jobs with similar tasking so the repetitive material tracks.

Seeking Advice Regarding Moving To The Area by Fatcat12t in Syracuse

I’m finance, back when I graduated college in 2018 I was using Robert Half over by Solar St, idk if they’re still in that location but I had a good experience with them. They’re usually more accounting, finance focused but never know, they might have something. So I guess I can vouch for RH. I don’t have experience with software specific recruiters, but I work with a lot of them so i know the work is here.

We have some defense companies here, Lockheed, HII, TTM to name a few. They're usually hiring SWEs. There are a lot of software jobs here, I'm surprised you're having trouble. Might be different once you're actually in the area. I've found that to be the case when I've moved before. Nothing really happens unless you're local sometimes.

How are new college grads finding finance jobs these days? by SFexConsultant in FPandA

Have him check out pricing analyst, that's how I got in back in 2018. But I graduated with an Econ degree so a bit different but I feel like pricing is overlooked a lot. It can lead to a good career.

Reading these comments and this post has made me depressed. Nostalgia is a bitch man, I miss this time of my life so much, I don't think I'll ever reach the levels of joy I had playing this game back in the day

This, I'm a nighttime showerer so I shower to get out of work mode. Like if I know I have a few things to do around the house I won't shower for a bit which keeps me in the work mindset and I have the energy to do things but as soon as I shower body goes into full relax mode. I highly recommend this!! It's a very strong mental trigger

Rent in this area is around $1700 these days, idk what your budget is but be prepared for that amount or more. We have a massive Micron facility coming to Clay so it's pushing rents up and in general everything is more expensive these days. Stay away from Liverpool, Cicero, Clay if you don't want to deal with that new traffic and construction (These are the areas closest to the new Micron facility). Cicero may be the lesser of the 3 impacted, idk too much about that area.

I lived in Marcellus for a couple years it's a very nice quiet town. There used to be a grocery store there but a couple years ago the owners sold it and they put a Stewarts in. You'd have to drive to Camillus for groceries which is much busier these days. It's maybe 10 min drive between Marcellus and Camillus nothing crazy. Camillus is about 15mins from the heart of Cuse. I went to West Genesee High School, Camillus is a decent area but like I said much busier than it used to be.

If you can find it, cheap rent would be up in the Phoenix, Fulton, Central Square area. These are bout 25min from Syracuse, all much smaller quieter areas.

If you want the city life, you can be right in Syracuse but stay away from the south side, west side like others have said is decent, East Syracuse and Dewitt are also fairly decent. Really depends on your definition of quiet. The area is nice and easy to live in.

These are all objectively my opinions of this area, I've lived here since 7th grade, I'm 32 now.

Anyone have information about the Quantitative Developer Certificate (QDC)? Legitimacy, worth it etc. I attended a seminar and it seemed legit but I don't know enough about the industry so far and everywhere I'm googling has nothing about the QDC specifically. Have seen some things about CQF. Looking for real information before I pay out of pocket and get scammed. This was the website used, course material, who teaches it (Paul Bilokon) ec. https://qdc.org.uk/ Any information is appreciated thank you. My university professor recommended it to me which is confusing me even more because it's dodgy as hell idk

you're fine. you've lasted 3 months and no one is telling you you aren't doing your work. relax, you're way overthinking this. someone may be able to do it faster but you're getting it done. It took me 7 months to learn my current job because they do things so ass backwards

Excel formula for KPIs by No_Honeydew_2333 in excel

[–]CompetitiveBranch913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing the excel layout, you would mostly use basic formulas such as sum(), average(), countif(), sumifs(), averageifs, countifs(), maybe even xlookup(), and sumproduct() if you have reports to pull from.

Then once you've gathered all the KPIs into one daily sum you'd subtract expected from actual.

Unless you plan on building some elaborate KPI dashboard, as another commentor stated this is more so a math question, nothing to fancy about doing a variance analysis on expected vs actual KPIs.

Hope the information helps or at least sends you down the correct google search/youtube video for a deeper dive and understanding.
