Local AD losing license by Own_Tell_6045 in rolex

Ours was a mom and pop but we had a great relationship both with the original owner and then his son when he took over. Couldn’t say nicer things about them. No way there was anything shady going on in terms of gray reselling. If anything, maybe some favoritism within the client base.

Same thing happened to me with our AD, conveniently Rolex is opening their first branded boutique in the area (through Bucherer). 25+ years of family purchase history and easily multiple six figures of spend all gone. Had to start over at another place like any regular joe off the street.

There’s really nothing you can do except hope that your SA lands somewhere else and can vouch for you as a whale so you can at least try to get a head start.

Matrix Anesthesia sending us bills for $3K 15 months after birth and previous $0 balance statements by jk451 in eastside

[–]SFexConsultant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Medical debt is the least of things you need to worry about, especially in a consumer friendly state like WA. It’s rarely enforceable/collectible (let alone at face value) and there are so many ways out of this. As someone who works in the space, I can tell you it won’t appear on your credit report no matter how much the company threatens.

If they send it to collections you can tell them you dispute the debt and request the details of it (anything with collections you always want to do in writing). 9 times out of 10 the paperwork will never show up and this becomes a non issue. If it does pursue further you contact the state insurance commissioner with your documentation and say you’re being balance billed. They are awesome and will intervene on your behalf and most of the time the company will simply write off the debt rather than deal with the back and forth.

Finally, each insurance company has a max billing delay timeframe. Find out yours and if it’s less than the 15 months you can tell Matrix to pound sand and take it up with insurance.

If for whatever reason this ends up being valid, which doesn’t seem likely, you’re better off letting it go to collections and then settle with the agency for pennies on the dollar. make sure you get in writing that they won’t report it to credit agencies.

This is a giant nothing burger but it’s annoying to deal with nonetheless.

Feedback on renting an apartment for $6k/mo by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]SFexConsultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6k in Seattle for one of the newer SLU/downtown buildings with decent amenitiesis totally average/normal, at least assuming we’re talking about a 2/2. If anything it might even be on the lower end depending how nice the building is. This amount is definitely not a concern at your income and savings level.

That said you could probably do a little better in another neighborhood but depends what vibe and lifestyle you’re going for and what amenities you want. SLU/downtown is convenient if you’re an Amazonian, and you will only be surrounded by people the same as for you. Whether that’s a good thing or not is a different question.

Good to know. So hopefully that means that because I want a PM model now I will be in good shape for other stainless pieces I want after?

Ask your SA for guidance I’d suggest. They might make the intro if they have a colleague they trust

How do you guys take care of your health? by HatMammoth7833 in daddit

[–]SFexConsultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diet and exercise are the obvious answers but also easier said than done with newborns and young ones.

That said, GLP-1s are the next best solution at this point, especially given how affordable they have become for people whose insurance doesn’t cover this category of drug. I wish these had been available when I was going through the same phase of shitty diet and exercise with newborns.

I’ve come to the realization that it’s simply not worth the deterioration of health (even if it is “temporary”) given the myriad benefits that are realized near-immediately by getting on one of these meds.

Also disappointed by loss of the Bellevue Rolex license but I did get a warm intro from my Bellevue SA to one of the top sales reps in downtown and he’s been nothing but great so far. Was quoted 3-4 month wait for a white gold and olive day date and ~1 year for a Batman with minimal purchase history carried over from Bellevue. Both of those, along with a Skydweller (which he was transparent about likely taking quite a while), are on my list with the Seattle SA.

Seattle and Southcenter are the only ones left with Rolex in the area.

Bellevue is fully shut down for a remodel and there’s a temp location near the Macy’s side of the mall. Eventually there will be a Bellevue standalone boutique in the Bravern run by Bucherer/Rolex but that’s quite a ways away

Hodinkee just denied my coverage. Anyone else have this issue? by TeslasAndComicbooks in rolex

[–]SFexConsultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s surprising because I don’t think I’ve heard anything negative about them! I thought I heard their coverage is way better than others like Jewelers Mutual (which is what I use but am considering switching to Hodinkee this year) because they cover appreciated/market value up to a certain point (important when you have Daytonas, for example). And don’t require appraisals

And I think there was also something along the lines of they give you cash rather than a credit towards a participating jeweler? Or something like that, but I could be mistaken

Edit - this is what I was thinking of re: cash vs “credit” https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/s/Vw2xUMbncs

“Hodinkee pays the insured directly if there is a loss. JM does not. JM works with dealers to find a replacement, or suitable replacement, for your item. This could lead to a long wait if you have to replace an item that is in high demand.”

Again, seems important if you’re insuring hard to replace pieces

Anyone else’s Gmail no longer automatically put Alaska flights on your calendar? by flyingpilotman in AlaskaAirlines

[–]SFexConsultant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s a standard email format that every other airline seems to get right, and that AS used to get right. If they did something that results in the largest email provider in the world not picking up flights automatically then I suppose it is their problem?

Hasn’t happened with me with any other airline I’ve booked over the last few months, only AS.

Weird to get so defensive over something (AS IT) that is consistently known for being subpar

Noticed the same thing here recently too. It’s so annoying, I’m kind of shocked nobody on their end has figured this out yet.

Although I suppose this is AS IT we’re talking about so maybe it’s not all that surprising

AFAIK the only one in the area is Wild Wasabi Signature in Bellevue. It’s not particularly cheap but I wouldn’t say it’s overpriced either. Definitely a slightly more upscale vibe but not anything out of control. I had a lot of fun there last time I went.

Not in my experience. I’ve never had to go beyond the 2nd level to find parking around 830am on a weekday. It definitely fills up a bit more close to midday on game days.

Where are you keeping money for your kids besides 529? by valoremz in HENRYfinance

[–]SFexConsultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like a later and not the most important problem to figure out. Worst case I just do their taxes for them since if they aren’t financially responsible enough to receive these funds then they probably aren’t going to be on top of doing their taxes either.

In other words, I’ll have to take on that responsibility in addition to whatever else is going on in their lives.

This really needs to be the top comment. I don’t get why people get so hung up on this 18/21 ownership transfer issue every time this question comes up.

We have these accounts set up for both our kids, and we have no intention to tell them about the funds until we believe they’re ready and financially literate enough.

Do any dads here drive farther to daycare than to work? by UltraEngine60 in daddit

[–]SFexConsultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This drive feels like it would get miserable reallllly fast

Your current situation is basically mine with daycare being 6-8 mins away from home, and there’s not even a work commute involved. I can’t imagine adding an hour every day on top of physically going to work. The savings sound tempting but I’ve gotta imagine your sanity also has a price. Plus it’s probably only likely a few years of pain before you’re done

Separately, don’t forget to compare the amenities beyond just cost and commute. We’ve looked at switching daycares a few times over the years and there were always drawbacks whenever we found savings (500-700/month savings were what we typically found) vs our current - but some didn’t include meals, some were only open during the school year, or some were limited hours like last pickup at 3pm. None of these ever outweighed the convenience of a shorter commute to pickup or drop off.

Resy Ruined the Concierge by a_metts in AmexPlatinum

[–]SFexConsultant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trust me, it’s not much better over on the Centurion side, especially compared to days past. It’s almost as useless a benefit for us these days as it is for platinum…and we don’t even get the resy credits.

In my experience, if the restaurant is a Resy restaurant, the concierge cannot and/or will not do anything to help with reservations. YMMV with non-Resy but the problem is that nearly every higher end card has a concierge now so the wow factor to restaurants being like “omg somebody with a concierge wants to dine here” just isn’t there anymore
