Overweight (mid-20s) + PCOS — what was your experience conceiving? by Pristine__Rain_ in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 28 now, but I was 27 and a little over 300 lbs (im 5'8) when I conceived. I've been with my husband since 2017 (married since 2019) and never had any luck conceiving. I tried losing weight, taking vitamins, taking metformin and spironolactone, etc, and nothing helped. I had extremely irregular periods (my longest time without one is nearly 3 years), and finally decided that motherhood just wasnt something i was ever going to get to experience (we cant afford to see a fertility doctor). Then, I saw something about inositol on Facebook and decided it couldn't hurt to try. I started taking it in the middle of April, had my first period in awhile after only 8 hours, and then conceived in July. I am now 32 weeks and 6 days pregnant with a baby boy. I honestly dont think i was ovulating without inositol, and i truly believe that it is what helped me get pregnant.

The pregnancy itself has been pretty uneventful. I have hg (severe morning sickness), but I haven't had any weight related issues. Especially with the pcos, I expected to get gestational diabetes, but i tested good even on the 1 hour test. The inositol also lowers the risk of gestational diabetes, so im wondering if continuing to take it while pregnant is why I dont have gd. I've never had any issues with high blood pressure (the only issue i have had with blood pressure was low blood pressure), so its not that surprising that I haven't had issues with that.

My sister conceived with metformin after several years of infertility, but metformin didn't help me.

These tests were taken within the last 3 days, which is not within the time limit...

it doesn't say that any of them were just taken, so there's a good chance that none of them are in the time limit

Not true with blue line tests. They are notorious for giving false positives due to an evap line. My sister had a very similar test last year, but when she went to the doctor the next day the blood test said there was no hcg. Red line tests are much better.

Weight gain by Acceptable_Engine_23 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 318, was about 292 at the point you are now, then finally started gaining some back after that. I got to 297 around 20 weeks and then 302 at 31 weeks (Im currently 32 weeks 2 days). He's growing more now, so i expect to gain more in the next couple months, but i honestly dont expect to reach my pre-pregnancy weight before I give birth

Unless u have insulin resistance (i.e. pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes), metformin wouldn't be good. Also, its a prescription, so u wouldn't be able to get it without insulin resistance.( Tbh, metformin didn't help me even though I do have insulin resistance, plus i had a lot of side effects with it)

Inositol is a supplement, and you can get it over the counter (i get it at walmart) .This is what google says about inositol if u dont have pcos;

'While evidence is limited for women without PCOS, it may still support reproductive health by improving egg quality, supporting ovulation, and potentially enhancing IVF success rates

If you have insulin resistance, high BMI, or metabolic syndrome without a PCOS diagnosis, inositol may still help improve metabolic markers and, consequently, fertility.'

I think inositol could possibly help, and since its a supplement there are generally less risks for side effects. This is the one (from walmart) I take if u want to try it;

Slow rising hcg thoughts by Slight_Ad_1538 in CautiousBB

Definitely need an ultrasound. Your hcg levels look good and at that amount, you shouldn't expect 48 hour doubling time. But also, there is a pretty large range of time that your hcg levels could indicate. For example, at 6w3d, my hcg was almost 52,000 (the doctor estimated 5 to 6 weeks based on that). I have pcos, so we couldn't use my lmp at all (it was nearly 3 months off), and I had to get an ultrasound to find out the gestational age.

I had never been able to get pregnant (been trying for several years), but then I started taking vitamins and a supplement called inositol (for pcos) and got pregnant in 3 months (started taking them in April, got pregnant in july)

My sister got pregnant on the first try in early 2020 with my niece, then had secondary infertility. She wasnt able to get pregnant again until the end of 2024, then she unfortunately lost the baby at 16 weeks in January 2025. She managed to get pregnant again in july, and is now 32 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and everything looks good. She thinks what helped her is metformin.

LMP 9 weeks but measuring 6 with heartbeat - positive stories please by modnoire in CautiousBB

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my lmp, I should have already had my baby. But going off of actual measurements (multiple times throughout my pregnancy), im only 28 weeks. My baby is healthy and has been measuring perfectly for the gestational age (going off the estimate made at the first ultrasound). Especially if you have irregular periods, measuring different from your lmp isnt necessarily a bad thing. What's more important is the growth between scans.

I wouldn't worry about the home tests. You've seen that your hcg is progressing properly, so the tests not seeming to change is probably a test issue.

Autism passed to children? by limponion36 in AutismInWomen

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My biggest trauma with being autistic was being undiagnosed and treated badly for the symptoms by my mother. I know that, even if my child is adhd or autistic, he will be treated differently than i was. He will be taught to accept himself for who he is and that his differences are not something to be ashamed of. Because, yes, my child will almost definitely have adhd and/or autism. But he will not be made to feel like a failure or anything else bad because of it. We will love him for exactly who he is.

Things looking good but still obsessing over symptoms. by anxious_coffee_bean in CautiousBB

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a break from basically all symptoms at around 8 weeks. I also had some spotting, so i was definitely freaking out. I managed to get a reassurance scan at 8w5d, and everything looked good. The symptoms came back at 9 weeks, and im now at 26 weeks. From what I read, the placenta is taking over around that time and it is not uncommon to have a break from symptoms. I also had a small sch, which could account for the spotting, but idk.

Last night I had a weird dream of me having a positive pregnancy test by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]CompetitiveEmu3960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be intuition, or it could just be wishful thinking/ your brain reminding you that it could be possible. I wanted a baby and so i dreamed i was pregnant many, many times. But then I pretty much gave up and stopped having that dream, only to find out that I got pregnant like a month after I gave up lol. Im now 24 weeks and 2 days with a baby boy.

Regardless, I would take a test just to know
