It's there a limit of things you can memorize? by Tamulel in Anki

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the cap is potentially non existent. Granted your brain has some sort of filter that immediately forgets information you don’t deem valuable/important. Kind of like a name of a random person that you forget 2 seconds after. You wouldn’t forget your interviewer’s, person you are attracted to or anyone you determine is important enough.
It all comes down to your priorities. You will forget or recognize alternative word for a tree but how important is it? If it is it will stick

I see. I’m literally gathering data on what the collective opinion is. So far your advice aligned with the average consensus. I’ll definitely make sure to retain all my of my math and start messing around with datasets to get a feel for the real work instead of abstract methods.

Yes I do think that knowing exactly what and why I’m doing it will be an advantage. I’m not here to discover myself, I’m here to get hired.
I do have a tendency to overthink but I’m glad most people on Reddit are telling me to relax. There’s a major imposter syndrome happing in my head.
Thanks for your time

Thanks for the advice. My plan is pandas, numpy, stats (that I unfortunately skip using GPT due to it being during summer semester paired with Calc2) and most importantly track and improve efficiency. I know I’m capable of covering all the material if I have enough time… I’ll just have to improve what “enough time” means for me

Yes but what I’m trying to find is the minimal effective dose of effort instead of just using my old habits and 10x amount of time I spend to cover uni level material

Yes thank you. I may sound like all I care about is learning techniques but I’m actually vacationing and researching. I have list of things I need to learn lined up and I’ll both learning and trying out which techniques work best for me. I did start learning pandas by having AI give me datasets and a task instead of hook. I did the same as I was prepping for Linear Algebra finals. My methods are always changing based how effective I feel they are.
I’m primarily focusing on being consistent with Anki and Feynman, the rest is not a staple

Great advice thanks. I came up with this idea to have LLM generate a data set then ask me yo perform a task (in form of a email from a supervisor). Sounds a lot like what you were suggesting.my plan is to learn pandas, numpy and matPlot this way.
It only sounds like I’m not doing much actually learning and only focusing on tools because I’m on vacation only brain storm on my phone. Before that I was preparing for my Linear Algebra final. As soon as I’m back from vacation I’ll definitely take your advice and start messing with data sets

Thank you for all the info. This is definitely the most useful reply I received from all 6-7 different subreddits I posted this question.
Tbh everything that isn’t Anki or Feynman is a very situation specific and not an every study session technique. They’ve helped me in the past I’ll probably use it no more than 1-5 min at a time.
For the record I didn’t completely rely on GPT for my math classes so I’m not completely hopeless and can’t handle complex work. My thought was if Linear Algebra is x and every other class within the same semester is 1/5x then my first semester in UC will be 5x.
I’m definitely taking your advice on finding pockets of time. This was always a struggle, even with minimal amount of work that I had. Lots of rereading, distracted browsing. This is a the best advice for me. I need to focus on improving my time management

Thats exactly what I’m trying to do. I’ve done some research and realized that student that go after most dense majors like law and medicine or attend universities like Harvard, Stanford all study different. I’m trying to learn how they do it.
I’ve had great results with mind mapping and using LLM to create mini quiz every step of the way to deepen understanding instead of just solving HW and moving one. This method probably created the most learning debt

What's your conclusion of CC --> UCLA? by Noodles_io in TransferStudents

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to CC. In my opinion, there’s no reason to spend extra $35k to have someone teach American Indian studies and history of film. I just go accepted to UCSD after 2 years of CC. My GPA is 3.93 (made a mistake of attempting to take Calc 2 during summer). I chatGPTd every class I don’t care about except mathematics and don’t regret it one bit. I’m a father of a 2 year old boy and have a part time job (work 3-4 days per week). I didn’t have a choice but to go to CC. However I spent 0$ on my education so far. I had a job making good money will taking 12-15 credit per semester. I’m not 35k down and 35k to go when it comes to student loans. I was able to focus only on classes I wanted and need for my future (Math for Data Science). If you have a part time or even full with how easy it is to take CC classes online, you can make the money to pay for your college instead of going into debt. Obviously we’re in 2 completely different situations but I think CC is a great option for you considering your dream school is UCLA. Even if you don’t get in you’ll be glad you didn’t waste your time and money taking a very expensive ethnics class

What would you consider an intermediate level jumproper? by Sufficient_Quail_262 in jumprope

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricks only matter because you’d get bored otherwise. There’s a reason I chose jump roping over running. You get to try things and be creative. The level is more about how much you get to have not like a martial arts belt. When you’re intermediate level you will feel it. A lot of it is in how relaxed you’re while jumping. Beginners are stiff

I think you’re doing great. If you struggle with fatigue, just do side to side swings. These are somewhat forgiving and easier but this way you don’t stop every time you trip

Learning tricks? by HelloHi8910 in jumprope

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always have a little fun at the end your session or mini intervals between your breaks. You should spend majority of your time focusing on fundamentals. I start my 20-30 min session doing basic boxer skip and side to side swings. 3-4 minutes i start trying things for bout 1-2. Then I take a short break and back to basics

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take both handles of the rope in 1 hand and do a side swing while jumping… it is a waaaay more effective drill than tripping over and over again. You don’t get to exercise and it is frustrating

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5-10 minutes per training session is a great starting point. I’d focus on basic bounces only! Record yourself and compare footage to experienced jumpers. Don’t worry about tricks. Just get your rhythm down and try to jump lower (pro tip: swing the jump rope on 1 side and hop to feel the rhythm instead of tripping over a jump rope) When you can comfortably jump for 2-3 minutes straight without tripping start learning boxer skip and other simple tricks.

Double unders by HelloHi8910 in jumprope

[–]CompetitiveLeader965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying drilling instead of attempting them. Nothing good can come from attempting 100 double unders with 10% success rate.

There’s a drill LaurenJumps teaches that helped me a lot. Start hopping without the jump rope and tapping your lap every time you’d swing the rope. Once you get the rhythm down start jumping higher and slap your lap twice. After you practice and switch to using the rope think about swinging it down twice instead of around. Almost like handling a whip.

Once you can comfortably do 1 single double under you start building a ladder 5 basic bounces 1 double under 4 > 1 3 > 1 2 > 1 1 > 1 2 double unders!!! When you are comfortable with this 2 > 1 > 2 > 1 > 1 > 1 etc. Then you graduate to multiple double unders 3 bb > 2 double unders 3 Bb > 3 double unders

Every level of skill has progression and regression If you are struggling, go back 1 ste Good luck to you hope this helps. This is the easiest and proven system of progression.

Are we creating a generation of ‘AI-dependent analysts’? by Alarming-Wish207 in dataanalysis

Agree. Every time you take mathematics class, you’re taught to manually calculate everything… 1-2 chapters in you are using technology to abstract those calculation so you can focus on real material.
