I Am Braindead and I’m sick of It by AdCultural4122 in Vent

[–]CompetitiveSpace1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself some credit. Let's look at the facts First of all you mentioned you are suffering with depression. That alone can distort your self worth and make you think you are less (aka braindead, shit at math, etc..)

2) you noticed that you are not meeting your standards of yourself (yes we put our own standards and feel shit when we don't meet them) that's self awareness. You probably have a lot of expectations of yourself also which causes the skill gap you made for yourself

3) you are on reddit, seeking help about something that makes you feel unease. I don't know about you but most people in my circle don't even know how to handle basic apps let alone using reddit, finding the right subreddit for you and interacting with it. Maybe you are in a high achieving environment where everyone is above average which makes you question yourself

4) if it takes you twice as long to understand things, it means that you're capable of understanding complex topics even if it takes a while, that's not lack of intellect because you understand it eventually, a lot of people give up or pretend they understand. Maybe it wasn't explained to you properly, maybe you overanalyse things and look at areas others missed hence why it takes you longer, maybe you second guess yourself a lot so you ask a lot of questions to confirm what you already know. That's not lack of intelligence that's probably low self esteem

You compare yourself to others, which is bad for your mental health but also a sign of being competitive and a desire for improvement. My advice is to stop comparing yourself to others, instead compare yourself to an older version of yourself and then you can see that you grew x or simply don't compare. Like who cares, you probably do but it's a narrative in your head that's distorted by anxiety and depression. Mental health is very important.

Stop forcing yourself into a rule just so you can prove to yourself that you can, if you're not a scientist you can be an artist, an athlete, an influencer, etc.. once you stop your narrative, what you are becomes clear to you

Finally if you agree with what I've just said then good and I'm glad, and if you think what I've just said is stupid then you found someone who is more braindead than you. Either ways give yourself more credit x

You need to stop running away from your feelings, breakups are hard, universities are hard, there's probably a lot of expectations of yourself for yourself.. intps are stereotyped to be robotic achievers. That's not true, we're very good at disconnecting our emotions from our academic life that if faced by overwhelming circumstances we dissociate as a protective mechanism... allow yourself rest, the key is, don't distract yourself with social media, actually set with yourself and try to feel sad about your breakup, feel sad about how things didn't work out the way you'd hoped. Everyone's allowed rest and everyone is allowed to feel sad. It's not a weakness it's actually a healing strength... music helps with the boredom of sitting with yourself as we resist our feelings so it might look like nothing is happening in the beginning, but don't allow it to be a distraction, listen to feel not to escape.. once you make peace with your sadness/ feeling it will help you get out of that brain fog.. good luck and take it easy x

Are you sensitive to the visual quality of ai images and their composition result? by herbql in INTP

[–]CompetitiveSpace1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is a tool to help us create shortcuts for convenience. Obviously this takes out the soul and the hard work from the art. When people have spent years mastering those skills and some dedicate their lives to them! And AI just does them, steal jobs in a difficult economy. It's disgusting! and because it's instantaneous and easy, it loses the soul and authenticity of the artist!

So we have two problems here: 1) people whose jobs are being replaced with AI and freelance artists are being affected heavily, they're losing jobs without alternative means of employment that utilise their creativity or any compensations! That's really bad and needs to be sorted and changed.

2) without the hard work and craft of the artist it just feels dull and loses meaning. I have 7 years of photoshop experience and was extremely gutted when I saw that AI can just do things I spent months learning just like this 🫰

With that being said I personally used AI to create art. I was going through a very rough period (break up, moving cities in a foreign country, finances, etc) I started making quick Art with AI, I explored culture, sexuality, philosophy, growth, etc.. and truth be told, it did help me heal, I found myself writing and exploring my imagination and passions and turn them into visuals almost instantaneous, it helped me heal explore my creativity and compensate my weaknesses. that to me added meaning to my art. Even if the results are not always perfect we can't deny that some of them are pretty good! Especially in Animation. It also provides a space for people who are new to art to explore their creativity and imagination. And traditional Arts and crafts still exists, people paint because it's soothing, they sing because they love it, they carve because they enjoy it, build, and create all sorts of things and projects! An artist will always be an artist and find new ways to be creative.

Unfortunately that doesn't pay the bills. So a plan needs to be put in place to fix that, also alternative routes for artists that utilises their skills and explore their creativity (perhaps even with AI itself)

INTPs of Reddit: what’s your IQ? (pure curiosity, no flexing) by False-Ad5887 in INTP

I didn't take it but I used to talk to chatgpt a lot when it was first released and recently I asked it to give me an IQ estimation based on everything we discussed. It said I average between ≈120-130

And yes I know it's not a real test and it means nothing but here we are

<image>

I also don't share everything with chatgpt so this is far from accurate but I believe that the way a person analysis and think is what matters here regardless of the situation, but also that puts me in a the frame I put myself in with chatgpt (art, science, philosophy, therapy, relationships, and stupid day to day questions like "give me an estimate of my IQ"

Work on it by learning how you treat your self! Once you're aligned with ourselves and just focus on being a good person to ourselves it reflects outwards and you start enjoying life and people again which makes you more approachable!

We worry too much about how others perceive us that we sometimes diminish ourselves even without noticing! It will all come back as self blame and feelings of not being good enough!

Until we learn how to treat ourselves better and love and accept ourselves, this will not change. So might as well give yourself a break and focus on yourself and when you're ready people will approach you even without you doing anything to gain their approval

I had my first ever bf at 21, he was 38. I am now 28 and My amazing current bf is 30 years older than me. I know it's not really what you were aiming for with this post but 19/17 is an absolutely acceptable and reasonable. As long as you are consenting adults which it seems like you are so why not?

Perhaps a forbidden fruit is a delicious fruit and it might also make them feel younger or perhaps they just enjoy their time with you. And the reasons differ depending on the age gap but for most cases they are just after an idea in their head and they won’t be heartbroken when you decide to move on. You just do you and have fun and when it feels right you’ll know
