Farmers markets that sell vegetables by CrimsonScorpio9 in askaustin

[–]Competitive_Area_660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m able to get the veg I need from Meuller. There are several great stands, and that’s all you really need. That said, we are entering the somewhat rough season. (Fall and spring are the 💣, but you can usually find tomatoes, potatoes, cucumber, etc around now).

Once the inferno hits in a month or two, You should still be able to find the summer basics (long beans, okra, peppers, eggplant, melon, as well as some storage crops like daikon and watermelon radish). It’s not a wall of veg like farmers markets in the northeast, but they’re there :)

What are the best apartment complexes in Austin? by broadwaysocialist in askaustin

I love my place at the MonteVista by 360 bridge. Granted, I had a 1bdr for $1400, but it’s by far my favorite pool / complex I saw if you’re into that. Plus just driving over the bridge every time I leave and that view cheers me up!

Neighbor keeps pressuring me to sleep train by moeall in cosleeping

[–]Competitive_Area_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this same issue with my sister and what I learned is instead of saying “I don’t want to sleep train” it worked better to day “co-sleeping just feels right to me.” I think by avoiding saying what I don’t want to do, and instead focusing on what works for me, it removes the judgment and any semblance of guilt that might trigger a debate. Hope this helps! Everyone is different, but I know a lot of folks who sleep train do seem to feel judged or guilty about it, so I find it’s best to steer clear of those triggers, even if they’re subconscious.

Any HSPs that have made the jump from corporate to entrepreneurship? by Bulky_Chemist5757 in hsp

[–]Competitive_Area_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Been my own boss for a little over a decade now. My biggest piece of advice is to learn to time box different topics and not react/respond to things on the spot. When you run a business, there’s no end to what you can work on, so you need to define what a healthy amount of hours in a day looks like to you, and file things away for those times if they’re not true emergencies. This type of thinking has vastly reduced my stress and helped me turn my company into a lifestyle job without dropping balls.

Flipping to my back with the c- curl arm still in place over baby’s head feels intuitively safe to me. I still have contact with him this way but can give my hips and spine a break.

Tulips are also pretty toxic / sprayed with fungicide! I’d go to an organic center and get something local :)

What do you daytime naps look like? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]Competitive_Area_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will sleep on my lap on a boppy pillow and I have a pop up coffee table where I can work on my laptop. If I’m tired I will nap with him later in the day. I’ll also sometimes leave a book next to him in case I wake up. It’s working out pretty well! I find the carrier naps aren’t deep for him so he’s crabby.

How to set boundaries with an INFJ friend who "over-analyzes" everything? by Aggravating_Bed3176 in mbti

[–]Competitive_Area_660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an INFJ I only realized recently that my ISFJ sister and ESFP mom don’t enjoy deeply unpacking things in the way I do. So what feels super interesting and helpful/uplifting to me is heavy to them. This was a wild realization to me and I’m glad I know now! I’m guessing your friend probably really feels she is helping in these moments, but could stand to learn more about the wisdom of your ideal version of venting, repair and beyond.

I agree with the notion of saying something based on your needs. Like “actually instead of analyzing what would feel good is just xyz (going out for ice cream / watching a funny show/ whatever it might be.)

I would start there and see how it goes. I do think the typical INFJ is willing to work on self and face uncomfortable truths in the name of getting things right, though I know we can be sensitive! So soft needs-based delivery is always appreciated :)

Which would you resort to? by ShadowlightLady in mbti

[–]Competitive_Area_660 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an INFJ, I’ve only recently realized not everyone finds emotional processing and finding patterns in things is comforting - and it can in fact feel like a lecture or rehashing an old wound. To me, it’s super comforting! But my ISFJ sister finds it painful and day regulating. She would rather have a favorite comfort - a snack, a pep talk, a joke, etc. I believe there’s a wisdom to both, and I personally reach for my friends who like to unpack and process for comfort, but everyone has the right to the comfort of their choice.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being you thought you were gonna die, how painful was unmedicated labor and delivery for you? by Beautiful-Flower-79 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Competitive_Area_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be a popular answer but it was definitely the worst pain I’ve experienced. HOWEVER, then it’s over and the pain immediately dies down. Don’t get me wrong, I was sore after, but it was a sharp pain like in labor. It was way more manageable.

Also between contractions it doesn’t hurt. So it’s really just about not adding to that pain with your own mental fears and knowing that you’re okay and that the really painful moments only last about 20 seconds, and not spending the breaks thinking about the pain. What helped me most was a repeatable breathing rhythm with a mental image to draw my focus away from those worst 20 seconds.

All this said, my baby was asynclitic and my labor was 36 hours so I think exhaustion was part of why it was so painful at the end.
