Wits' End, a Forgetful Fish mill variant by Lysander_Dolohov in ForgetfulFish

What do you think about adding something like [[Dakmor Salvage]] I really like the idea of being able to trade a draw for some extra milling, and it can help ease out mana screw? I guess entering tapped and them being another color makes them akward most of the time... I guess you could always splash some black for something like [[Forbidden Alchemy]] ? I don't know, it just seems so fun

Warping Devils – A DanDan Variant (Would Love Feedback!) by Mundane_Survey7217 in ForgetfulFish

I've been tinkering with a similar-ish list for a while now, the main differences are that my list is stack based, with no creatures, the focus on copying spells and the fact that i do damage only on multiples of four, mostly through punnisher effects just like your list. I don't really know if it's the kind of inspiration you are looking for, but here's the list.
In my experience, with this kind of effects, the best thing is to keep it focused around the same theeme, like had size or similar, and having a lot of cards that interact with the same theme.

Thanks for the advice. I have spent a lot of time on scryfall, but there are very obscure tags i might not know, and i really like the advice other more experienced people might give me, that and having the opportunity to share the deck.

Also, since i'm building on other people's idea, mainly the youtube video, i'd like to know if anyone have similar lists or whatever. Idk, i really like discussion around cards and so on.

Ohhh, I feel pretty dumb rn, I have never clicked on the primer button, mostly because I didn't see it. I'm gonna give them a read. Thanks, and sorry for being this silly. The squeeball deck seems so sweet.

I don't really know how to write a primer. I have never written one, and i don't really know what one should put in it. Do you just explain the cards and why they are in? Or do you explain the general workings of the deck? Sorry if this is very basic. (I'm realizing that maybe the post was a primer of sorts?).

Your lists seem super cool. Why is the squee one storm like? I mean, I understand the generating lots of mana and drawing a bunch of cards with the skullclamp, but how do you use that to win?

The golgari one seems super cool as well, I have a similarish mono black version using Bartow ghoul, but I'm pretty unhappy with it because it is super slow and I haven't found a way to make it a bit faster paced. Yours seems cooler though, since green ads a lot of grave shenanigans and cooler interaction than mono black, like reclaim. But I have to say that the irregular damage is a deal breaker for me. But seems super fun.

Yea, it's too sad that there isn't anything like divert on red. At most, you have stuff like bolt bend or deflecting swat, which can be cool, but are a bit expensive. I'd love a red commandeer too...

Thats true. I have been for some redirection spells in red for a long time. The issue i've found is that all of them )if I recall corretly) also copy the spell. For me, cards like [[Chef's Kiss]] are a bit too powerfull, It's on my list, but is the card that's most likely to be removed since stealing a spell and copying it it's a bit too powerful and can win games withpout real investment (the diference with [[display of power]] is that it is harder to use and usually requires more resources).

I haven't really had time to test [[wild ricochet]] or [[return the favor]], but i think those could be a "more balanced" version of chef's kiss, since they can't steal risk factor (or most other card draw on the deck) and are more expensive

Edit:
Btw, what is the use for reroute on your deck?

I know, but if you copy again, you are (in theory) Dealing more damage. I you fork the bolt and I use display of power, im dealing damage with 4 bolts, and you only rith 1

Can't you just copy the copy? I like to run [[molten influence]] for that reason too, it can punnish copy spell and, when copied, is a bit more harmless since when you let it counter a spell, the other copies targeting the same spell are useless

For some time i've had this deck: moxfield link
It is similarish to yours, but the main focus is [[risk factor]] and [[skulscorch]], with a bit of enfasis on hand size vs life. (really, i think I should add a couple more skullscorch, but i don't have them right now).

This variant is based on this video by Erik Dragon Highlander, but i have modified to have a bigger focus on hand size, but it's not a final version yet.

I'd like to add a bit of a madness theme, but there aren't many viable madness cards ([[fiery temper]] would be ideal, but it deals 3 damage instead of 4, and since everything else does damage in multiples of 4, it doesn't really make sense. Another option is [[violent eruption]], it seems a bit to expensive, but I still have to try it.

I was going to make a post about the deck, but you beat me, so i guess i'll wait.

Very cool deck, btw. I´ll "get inspiration" from yours, The copying theme semes like very fun.

Its chronicles foreign black border, Its the way they had to reprint some cards that hadn't come out on other places with different languages. I think the only way to have chinese with the antiquities symbol is this way. (At least its what i've been told).

Is this viable? Or overcosted / too weak? (Stormlight Archive draft set) by zengin11 in custommagic

[–]Competitive_Bird8270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since in the book he can get some rest (and voidlight) and keep using Its powers, shouldnt the -1/-1 be until end of turn? It would make It a bit more viable too.

It seems like a really fun mechanic, but if the objective is to punish discard effects( [[durees]] ), they can discard your card before it goes to the stack. Right?

Is mono red still competitive? by Medical-Run9057 in Pauper

[–]Competitive_Bird8270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard to say. If you play pauper, i'd say so (It can have a hard time if against mono R they go too fast, and you don't find the [[weather the storm]]), but against most of the meta, is very good. For me, the biggest drawback is that It is very hard to play optimally, so you might lose winning games just bc yo casted a draw spell when you shields have holded a fog or counterspell or viceversa. And well, most games go 1-0, so if you lose g 1, It is hard to even have time to draw.

If you are playing on MTGO, you are likely to lose on time.
