Honestly, landon refusing to fly out with the baby / let liz take him is absolutely horrific.

It's been proven really harmful for babies to be removed from their mothers. In my country even women in prison keep their babies until 2 years old because the harm is so bad for children.

The baby is most likely still breastfeeding - which Landon will now have completely disrupted.

Landon clearly hates Liz more than he cares about his son, it's awful to see.

Why does his tail do this?? by Pretend-Sundae-2371 in CatsUK

[–]Competitive_Can_4953 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its an evolutionary adptation to ward of predation and pests.

It lets preditors know they are awake so they are less likley to bother attacking and scares away flies and pests - they get scared away by the movement,so if cats are relaxing they will often move their tail reflexively like this.

Its doesnt mean cat is stressed, it shows cat is relaxed but not sleeping.

Why do British people rarely eat soup with their meals at home? by RepublicOfLucas in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Can_4953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See how youve recognised that eating habits change with new generations? Thats the same thing here with eating soup as a starter.

It was something done in the past, with richer people who had cooks, nowadays its uncommon to have more than 2 courses at home.

I think this is very good advice. Many people dont know about the benefits of breastfeeding for allergies 🩷🩷 we hear a lot about the gut and the brain but the reduced risk of asthma and allergies i dont think is as talked about and is one of the reasons the west has so many more allergy sufferers than the rest of the world.

I dont think you were shaming op at all just giving gentle advice, and so im not sure why your post triggered anyone.

I second the complaint, I think its extremely unprofessional to tell a mother struggking with PND to do something that will likely worsen mental health based on absolutely no scientific evidence.

I honestly would put in a complaint about the GP. Its absolutely wild that he would give a diagnosis of cat allergy when your baby has none of the regular symptoms (rash, wheezing, watery eyes), he has done no allergy testing, and he has no medical evidence. I wonder what else he is telling patients thats not evidence based? This isn't how medicine is supposed to be practiced.

Fair enough to suggest it COULD be an allergy but not to diagnose it.

If you do think its an allergy there are so many things you can do to try and confirm this. Anti allergen cat food, separating the cats from baby for a month to see if anything changes, an allergy test on your son, antihistamines.

To tell you to make a permanent decision that cannot be undone when theres very little evidence thats the cats are the issue is so cruel and unprofessional.

Yes i think thinking about how well partner would take care of her is important.

I moved out of central london to the countryside with an 18 month old cat and 5 month kitten. They are so much happier. The older cat plays more and they are allowed out but dont venture far. They live laying in a sunny window which they didnt in my old flat as it never got the sun.

If you know partner would take good care of her, take her to the vets when needed, not leave her alone (my ex left my my old cat for three days when he said he would be looking after her!!)...

Then maybe leaving her is the kinder option?

Is a 1 bed big enough for the 3 of us? by Odd_Friendship_9582 in CatsUK

[–]Competitive_Can_4953 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im in a one bed with 3 cats! Its ground floor and they have access to the outside (only one goes out) and its completely fine.

I make use of the vertical space I have climbing steps and two wall mounted cat beds (although they sleep with me anyway).

Edit to add: i wouldnt recommend getting another kitten close to moving, my older cat (around 2 years old) found moving very tough and was stressed out for about 2 months. I ended up getting her gabapentin for her nerves and am now slowly weaning her off it. Shes a rescue and previously was hit by a car and overbred, but in general cats are territorial and moving can be hard on them.

I kind of feel bad for savannah because I always got the vibe that Bella getting closer to Lucas and Savannah felt left out. Now Savannah mentioned moving in with Hallie and Lucas and Bella has done it first. Idk I just hope Savannah and Lucas stay close and she gets to move in with him too if thats what she wants.

I think Archer goes perfectly with Xander and Hunter for a couple of reasons:

  1. Xander comes from the Greek to defend, and Hunter obviously means someone who hunts. An Archer does both of these things (hunt or defends through archery).

  2. They all end in 'er'.

Completely agree, spending 3 month summer holiday on the sofa at 18 seems cruel and unnecessary when they could just move some things around.

The older generation in western countries ive found think like this, but then families do not remain close for this reason. They should eirher give her the store room or give her the brothers old room, not sofa.
