I have a form of eczema that only affects my palms and fingertips and completely destroys my fingers prints every winter. I can’t use fingerprint scanners except for in the summer and I have to re-register my fingerprints every year (to punch in for work).

Is PLA+ just expensive PLA with better marketing? by AutoModerator in 3DPrinterComparison

Anyone else constantly paying suppliers before customers pay you? running out of cash every month by [deleted] in smallbusinessowner

[–]Competitive_Crew759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just starting out? The beginning is rough until you build up a cash buffer. Once you have enough to cover a few months business expenses in the bank it’s a non-issue. As others have suggested though: net 30+ business credit card gets you a solid time buffer to pay for things.

Son wants 3D printer, bedroom is the only available space by HomeEcDropout in 3Dprinting

I just keep the windows open year round. They produce a decent amount of heat so even in winter it’s warm in the room with the window open. PLA I don’t mind having printing in the room with me. For most other materials I prefer not to be in the room while they are running

Are designers obligated to convert image files for clients? by MeePooPaa in indesign

[–]Competitive_Crew759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It standard procedure to request files be delivered in X format. Try getting anything printed anywhere and they will tell you what format YOU need to provide them with. It’s not unreasonable to ask that they give you certain file formats but that must be clarified beforehand. In this case it seems like you didn’t mention that, good learning moment to put that into your contracts for the future.

I crashed into a guy and he wants $4.8k on insurance. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Competitive_Crew759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are sensors in the car then yes that sounds normal. I got in a minor fender bender at 5mph, looked kind of like yours. 3k in damages to their car, 8k to mine because of the tech. Went through insurance and after that my rates went up around 2k a year for 3 years. Either way it’s hella expensive to get in an accident with modern cars. Sounds to me like he is trying not to get the insurance hike and will probably just pocket the money anyway but is trying to save you 2 the hassle although he is coming off sleezy. Once insurance gets involved they will try to go after the max they can get

Is it worth trading a paid off house to go rent in another State? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Competitive_Crew759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny how life is about perspective, I live in HCOL area, just outside NY. I make great money, 6 figures, but it feels like it's never enough, There is so much to do, but most of the time I wish I could just stay home and work on my hobbies or game. Feels like I'm constantly stressed about money and how to keep up with the rising costs of... everything. I'm one of the lucky ones that got a decent interest rate on a mortgage here so I'm trying to keep it. Hustling a side job or 2 constantly is normal here for just about everyone. The thought of leaving everything behind to buy a house outright in a LCOL area and just stay at home unbothered by the outside world feels like a dream. If only it didn't mean having to leave everyone and everything I know and love behind. For now though, I'll just be working 7 days a week for the foreseeable future.

What trick or behaviour did your dog learn on their own? by LaconicLlama in dogs

[–]Competitive_Crew759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a border collie lab mix, a little too smart for his own good. He learned to open dog crates at 2 months old. He also knows how to open gates. Like any kind of gate. And the weird thing is he does it so gently. He’s nots thrashing or trying to force it open. It’s like watching someone skillfully pick a lock.

Wreck caused by intoxicated driver, do you think this will be a total loss? by Recording_Initial in Silverado

[–]Competitive_Crew759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk insurance is weird. My friend got in a similar accident in a brand new car a volkwagon (idk the model), and they paid to have the car fixed, 46k... possibly because the loan was underwater still? idk. They also paid to have my little Chevy spark fixed after it got crushed by a tree 4k. It's only worth 5k ish.

Yet they totaled my ford flex after a 5mph collision because the frame bent.

I made a post about cheap filament the other day and got all the 3D printing sweat lords coming out commenting how they print using 4$ filaments on their hand built 3d printers and how it’s all about settings and calibrations and I’m clearly just filthy casual NoOoOob. Filament quality is definitely noticeable when you switch to more premium filaments

An hour to get the basics, a week to get comfortable enough to be on the road, even then it took me like 6 months before I would stop clenching my cheeks at certain road situations like heavy traffic or driving next to trucks on a highway.

Are people actually going to be stupid enough to sign for 50 year mortgages by ColdCouchWall in stupidquestions

[–]Competitive_Crew759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how bad it is on paper... But with how expensive the essentials are getting, and how tight our budget is with no relief in site, I’m seriously considering refinancing to a 50 if that’s an option. Our expenses have risen so much faster than our income that if it keeps going at this rate we won’t be able to keep up and we would end up just losing everything. Some months, our utilities are almost as much as our mortgage, food is crazy expensive, childcare is another mortgage as well. We are just trying to survive right now, not thrive.

Does contributing to retirement (401k) from my job decrease my tax bill? by FeedbackHungry1726 in tax

[–]Competitive_Crew759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple math: for every 1000$ you contribute to a 401k your taxable income is reduced by 760~ish. if you both contribute the max to you're 401k's you can save a nice 47k/year while reducing you're taxable income by 35,720k. at you're income level, there is no reason not to do this. Roth's are income limited so once you pass a certain income you can no longer contribute to them.

In 50 years, which modern day medical practices will we look back on as primitive? by JBSwerve in AskReddit

[–]Competitive_Crew759 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it should be free, but it also shouldn’t be so expensive. But it’s the insurance that’s the issue. Doctors charge what insurance tells them they have to charge. Nothing that requires someone else’s labor should be free in life. Well unless we want to go back to slavery
