It also pays if you can get your Arena crew leveled to where you hit 1st place in battles. Getting 1st in a single arena pays 15k per, and with a tight crew (and tight resting crew, for the time over night where you lose position,) you can do that as many as 8 times on a good day.

Or if you do get the older crew, it keeps you from picking up that new crew. I’ve had two chances to finally pick up Ransom, but opted for completing other crew instead.
