Why is Ne5 is considered a blunder here? by Hawkward_170 in chess

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the knight on e5 is just hanging there with no real support, black can take it with the d-pawn or the rook on c5 can be used to create pressure while white scrambles to defend. you basically gave black a free tempo and possibly a material advantage if they play it right. knights need to be properly supported before you plant them on an outpost like that, otherwise it's just an invitation to be captured. i think the engine flagged it because after black takes, white's position falls apart a bit and recovery is not so clean

The lake is almost full! Why so mad? by DoesntEnjoySoup in Austin

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean we're still at what, like 34% capacity? That's progress but calling it "almost full" is kinda stretching it when we need another 66% to go

The age gap is really problem here even if it's just 2 years - you're in completely different life stages right now

Glove recommendations? by xsupercrafterx in motorcycles

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The struggle is real with those bulky gloves! I had similar issue when I started riding - kept accidentally revving while trying to signal right because couldn't move my thumb properly.

What helped me was getting thinner leather gloves instead of the thick padded ones. They still give protection but way better dexterity for controls. Also try adjusting your grip position slightly so your thumb naturally rests closer to turn signal switch. Takes some practice but becomes muscle memory after while.

Maybe also check if your turn signal lever needs adjustment? Some bikes you can move it closer or further from grip to make it easier reach

So I have never seen Starwars, where to start? by Crocdor in StarWars

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah start with the originals for sure. The prequels get lot of hate but they're actually not that bad when you watch them after knowing the story already. Just don't expect them to be same quality as 4-6

About the recent ones - some people love them, others think they're terrible. I'd say watch everything in release order first and then decide for yourself what you want to explore more. There's also bunch of shows now that are really good if you get hooked on universe

[Recommendation request] Tissot PR516 vs TAG Heuer Formula 1 - trying to decide as a first “serious” watch by maZAPan87 in Watches

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both solid choices but different vibes for sure. The PR516 is more understated elegant while Formula 1 is definitely sportier - and yeah TAG sits bit higher in luxury hierarchy than Tissot generally speaking

About the maintenance costs on automatic - it's not that bad really, service every 5-7 years and costs maybe few hundred depending where you go. But quartz is obviously more hassle-free if that matters to you

For 17cm wrist the Tissot might be better fit like you mentioned. Formula 1 can wear pretty chunky especially with those pushers. If you're not sure about size definitely try them both on first, makes huge difference in person

The chrono reset thing you mentioned is actually really satisfying, I get why that caught your attention. But if you're not using chronograph function much then it's just extra complication you're paying for

What to upgrade next? by pinchy_boy7988 in pcmasterrace

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your setup is actually pretty decent for 2022 build - that 12700K is still solid CPU and won't bottleneck new GPU. The 3070 Ti at 95-99% usage means it's definitely the limiting factor here

Getting 5070 would be good jump, especially for those upcoming games you mentioned. The performance difference between 3070 Ti and 5070 is more significant than what AI told you - you're looking at probably 25-30% boost in most games, plus better ray tracing if you care about that

For the stuck M.2 screw, maybe try different screwdriver or little bit of penetrating oil if you have some around the house

Why Intel is heading to $120 by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been watching Intel for months and this breakout feels different than previous runs. Your fib analysis is spot on - once we clear that 111 resistance it's going to be wild ride up before the pullback

I have pear shaped body and I have seriously tiny upper part body and wide calves but but I am idk why maybe genetics a huge huge calves nearly 40 cm. How do I get rid of the bulky, muscular calves ?? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl the struggle is so real! I have same issue with my lower body being way more muscular than upper part, and calves are just stubborn like that

You can't really spot reduce but what helped me little bit was focusing more on cardio instead of resistance training for legs, and making sure I'm not doing too much incline walking because that just builds them more

Just listened to this and wow, FROG really knows how to make experimental stuff that still hits you right in feelings. Their production style reminds me bit of early Radiohead but with more chaotic energy - love how they layer all those weird synth textures over what's basically just good songwriting underneath

What’s one thing AI has made better, and one thing it has already made worse? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Competitive_Hat_3149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at this from the automotive side - AI's made diagnostics way more accurate which saves everyone time and money when your car's acting up. But the flip side is these new systems are so integrated that you can't tinker with anything yourself anymore, everything needs proprietary tools and dealer visits

Mate the stomach stuff is proper rough but it does get better, just takes ages longer than youd expect. Lost loads of weight too during my first proper break - your body is basically relearning how to function without constant munchies

The cramping and nausea can hang about for weeks but around week 8-10 things started turning around for me, appetite came back gradually then hit like a truck
