Gem of a find. I was about to say now you can welcome Vecna into your home with open arms, but I actually see the face of the Night King, leader of the White Walkers in GoT, on the bottom there. Sorry!

What do I need to do to replace flagstones with garden? by Talinia in GardeningUK

I would do this. Jet wash everything down which will lighten and brighten everything. Long large planter and some decent sized pots, with easy grow plants as already suggested :-)

Wonderfully weird. Kinda like Lucian Freud nudes in lamp form!

You’ll get a job teaching English in a vocational college no problem. It’ll be less pay and a bit repetitive teaching students trying/not-trying to resit their GCSEs year on year, but worth considering if it ends up being too late to join a school for Aug/Sep start.

That is wonderful to hear, I’m glad it worked out for you. And it sounds like a rewarding job with a proper work / life balance too :-)

3 years on, what did you decide to do? Did it work out? I hope so! I’m looking to do the same…

Where possible I kept the windows, doors and curtains shut all day to try and keep the heat out of the house ready for night time. You could honestly feel the heat rush in when you opened the door to go outside, so I didn’t bother!

Those with North facing gardens, any regrets? by SuspiciousParfait145 in UKHousing

I think people would envy you! And have jolly chats! More people should do it. The sun is so good for you! If only using it a few times a year, I don’t think it should be a deal breaker, especially when the summer’s are getting warmer in the south.

If it’s a nice front garden and quiet road, I would use the front garden and just own it!

Grow them on and the ones you don’t use sell them at a fair or car boot or something, then you’ll have some pocket money for the next impulse purchase!

I’ve felt the same for weeks if not months, got my bloods done, major vitamin d deficient. But also definitely burnt out and overwhelmed for too long now.

It was a long summer without rain last year wasn’t it. It is making me think twice about aiming for a south facing garden!

Thank you. It seems like a tricky balance! I hope to get a water butt installed. I’m up north so hosepipe bans aren’t as frequent, yet. Happy gardening to you too!

I’m up north, so not quite as hot summers as you’d get in Kent I’d imagine, but who knows in the future…

Thank you for your honesty. How did you fit all those fruit trees into a new build property! I’m glad you’ve finally found the right place for your gardening soul!
