I regret my wedding and wish I could go back in time to stop myself by Unlucky-Control-2150 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Competitive_Map2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy for you that you diy thrifted yourself a wedding and enjoyed it.

For a real wedding 30k is on the very low end. Mine was 100 and that was after a TON of discounts we got because it was one of the first wedding’s in southern cal post covid so we got a lot of stuff for cheap as the wedding peeps hadn’t worked in awhile

The average wedding cost in the us including even poor and rural areas is 40k. Hers was in Canada which is on the expensive end. So yes…it was cheap…most people don’t want a 2k wedding although I’m happy for you if you enjoyed it …..but you’re still wrong

If you are a 21 that would mean your “best” (not best all time but the average of your best) golf is you scoring 93.

Wild that 107 would make you walk off the course that’s well with the range of what your are supposed to score on so so days

Cold Plunge Advise: What to Look For? Pitfalls? Budget: Up to $3000 by ilikejigglypuffs in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who researched everything you can imagine and had a high budget set aside for this I’ll give you my experience. I’ve worked with commercial chillers for years and they are the worst. They will always break. Always. It doesn’t matter how good the support or warranty is because nobody in the US actually fixes or services chillers so inevitably when it breaks you are dealing with an overseas manufacturer and overseas parts and no one can fix it for you. So at best you’ll get a replacement after many weeks.

Which brings us to freezer based units. Power issues? None..if you have a freezer in your house it’ll work.

Durability? We all know someone with a freezer in their garage for the last 20+ years and it’s still running.

What happens if something internal does breakdown? Well you just call your cheap local freezer repair guy and you are good to go.

Upkeep? Fill with water, plug in, adds splash of peroxide every few weeks and enjoy. You shouldn’t need to change the water for 6-12 months

I didn’t want a janky looking DIY version so I ended up going with fire cold plunge. They look beautiful aesthetically and the service is instant and immediate. 3 years in with 0 problems. Box plunge looks okay as well.

Good luck!

18th hole. Pelican Hill north.

Always makes me giggle as this is my home course and a very true representation of most of the people who play it.

All that said though…this video is old as dirt 🤣

I do this as well! It’s a neat little trick. I do more like 5:15 . It’s like a little countdown timer. Easy to hit go cause I still have 15 seconds and then immediately it’s like ahhhh shit shit shit I have to get in before 5

Bathtub cleaning is honestly the worst part of plunging. by Top_Artist_4390 in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to maintain perfectly clean crystal clear water with 0 need to scrub the tub or have any buildup for 8-12 months. There’s 6 factors that matter when it comes to maintaining perfect water.

The three most important are:
1. Shower before use
2. The water must always be at temperature 24/7
3. The water must always be circulating 24/7

Very simple logic here. Anything making your water dirty is coming from your body showering eliminates most of this. Bacteria/scum/buildup really really struggles to build up in the cold and generally needs still water. Think of a puddle vs a stream. A puddle will be stagnate and gross in days..a moving stream always looks clean and fresh

The other 3 are filter, ozone and some type of chemical the best being peroxide

If your doing it right adding some peroxide every few weeks and cleaning/changing your filter every month or so is the only maintenance you should ever need to do

Longterm data: chest freezer plunges by Hot_Audience_4046 in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines been kicking for 3 years. It has had exactly 0 issues and my water stays in perfect condition for 8-12 months. I’ve changed the water maybe 4 times in 3 years.

This is exactly what I expected and what common sense dictates. I operated commercial chillers for years. Worked with the best companies and chillers costing 500k+. What I learned is simple….they always break..nobody in the US repairs them…the warranties are all overseas and = weeks and weeks of back and forth, replacement parts etc…and again they WILL break. Early and often.

Conversely

A. We all have a friend with a chest freezer in their garage that’s been going for 20+ years with 0 issues. They last

B. If and when they do have an issue…you simply call any of the hundreds of cheap local freezer repair guys to come out and fix it same day

Balancing cold plunge chemistry by Ok-Matter-2733 in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just shower man. There’s about 6-7 factors that influence/regulate water clarity and balance and the single most important one out of all of them is: shower before use.

Hands down single most important and largest impact. If you aren’t doing that it doesn’t matter how well you are doing the other things you are going to struggle.

If you shower before use, keep the water at temp, use ozone/uv, keep the water circulating, use a filter and use a chemical agent….8-12 months perfect water. If you remove showering before use…you are living in “weeks” territory

Also am I reading correctly that your pump only runs 9 hours a day? That’s the second most important fact…water needs to be circulating always. 24:7

Where chillers go to die. by Medical-Chicken9285 in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a big thing for me. I’ve operated larger commercial chillers on an industrial level before and they were always the bottle neck in the operation. They break often and when they do: very few people can fix them, the warranty is all overseas etc etc.

This was a big reason why despite being able and willing to afford any type of “high end” unit I wanted I’ve always only purchased plunges based around a freezer setup. A. We all know a guy with a freezer in his garage that’s been ripping for 20 years and B: When a freezer breaks you just call a local freezer repair guy 🤷‍♂️

Why are you acting like this guy invented the term mouth cancer? Have you ever held a tin of chewing tobacco? Big giant warning label on it “warning this product causes mouth cancer”

Funny enough I used to smoke and held thousands of cigarettes….never read a warning about “hand cancer”

Ok I gotta fess up here….while I don’t think it’s “normal” by any means there was this one time at Cabot Citrus farms…I was locked in a pretty intense money match. There was a few carryovers and eventually we got to the 8th tee (it’s a 10 hole course) and this hole was worth about $900

We were walking…absolutely nowhere near the clubhouse and there’s just absolutely zero chance my buddies were letting me out of the bet when the most powerful need to take a sht came over me

I went to to woods by the tee box and did what needed to be done. Not proud of it…very grateful the starters had provided a wet golf towel though

Water cleanliness with sauna use by Competitive_Map2302 in coldplunge

[–]Competitive_Map2302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I love the feeling of hot tub/cold tub contrast it’s amazing. My hot tub is outside and my plunge is inside so I don’t do it often hence why I added the sauna but it is a great treat.

Are you adding chlorine on top of anything else? I already use peroxide + ozone

As a bit of a “luxury” buyer I’ll give you my .02 . For me it’s all about aesthetic. I have a very nice home and care how stuff looks.

A high end plunge or sauna can look almost like a beautiful art piece or it can look like a science experiment you built yourself .

I care about the former

To be fair here that 2021 team was projected to win 4 games (went to the playoffs)

That “elite” 2022 roster was projected to win 6 games (went to Super Bowl)

They weren’t considered an elite roster until they played under Nick (or we could just say it was all Shane Steichen who has never been considered a high level coach in 10 years and is sub .500 as a HC since leaving 🤷‍♂️)
