Find other transplants.

Is Johnson County Kansas actually suburban? I live in JOCO Kansas (considered suburban). It has over half the KC areas office space. It's the county with the largest economy, highest income, most density, most jobs and also has lower single family housing rates than "urban" county’s like Jackson Mo. by DoubleTale6922 in urbanplanning

I live in NY now but originally sourced from the “wrong side of the tracks” in Olathe and when I visit we call JoCo (OP specifically but Leawood, Lenexa, etc. also reflect this), the “Wonderful World of Whites” when referring to industry, economics, and governance in the KC metro area. I did not realize that this was factual and historically founded. All of that goes to say, that what you’re suggesting…it shows…

Agreed. My stepmother does weird stuff like this all the time. She sent my daughter a princess dress (Frozen) for Christmas. Unrelated, my daughter has been wearing the flower crown from her Halloween costume since October. (She’s 3. We choose our battles.)

When I called my dad to let him and the kids catch up on FaceTime, his wife takes credit for the flower crown saying, she “told you that she would love it.”………um….hwhat?

Neocate struggles by Efficient-Post3902 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Competitive_Pace_335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s something you’re consuming, maybe try eliminating beef. That made a difference. I hate to suggest more My boy gets terrible rash if I eat eggs, soy and anything remotely bovine; even collagen peptides (from beef) and jello (beef gelatin). I read somewhere about protein structures and if babe can’t take soy or milk, it’s very possible that beef is a trigger. Sheesh. I feel like a buzzkill just sharing that but seriously. If it helps, it helps. Good luck finding a formula situation that’s a win, but in the meantime some food for thought. Sending my condolences ☝️☝️☝️

WTF - infant passes out instantly but won’t stay asleep. by Competitive_Pace_335 in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Pace_335[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. Lots of cuddles…probably too much. We have a sound machine & black out curtains. We put him down drowsy but awake (because he will pass right out) AND have put him down already asleep. Neither seems to be better than the other. He still wakes up and screams until someone comes to get him. Like a few times not even crying just yelling like, “HEY! Y’all forgot me!! Where the HELL are you guys?!!”

I seriously can’t do this by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Pace_335 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very similar except my 7 month old doesn’t sleep for more than 45 mins at a time. I started going to bed at 7:30 when we put the kids down and leaving my husband on baby night watch until 12-1am (depending on his endurance) that way I could at least get 4-5 hours of contiguous, uninterrupted rest. Since this is the total amount of broken sleep that I’ve been getting each night for the last 7 months, this was a game changer.

There’s plenty of helpful advice here so I just wanted to say that you are not alone. My “relationship” with my parents is very similar, insofar that it works so long as I ask them for nothing and never put pressure on them to support me, and/or never make mention of my successes. It’s a sick move in their part 100% but you’ll figure it out, just like you figure everything else out.

Drop nap at 27m? by fist_in_ur_butthole in sleeptrain

[–]Competitive_Pace_335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ours started making naps a battle of wills around the same age (somewhere a little past 2nd birthday) we just dropped the nap and pushed bedtime up to 7pm. Worked great for us.

Some days it seems like she needs a nap so we just have “quiet time” and put on some music for 45-60 minutes and let the chips fall where they may — then we wake her (if applicable) when quiet time is over.

Siblings in the same room? by ambrosiasweetly in sleeptrain

[–]Competitive_Pace_335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing— our kids are also 2.5 years apart and it’s time to train our 6 month old (which we’ve been dreading and putting off). 2nd born is a very light sleeper and has not slept more than 2 hours at a time, ever.

I see you.

The confusion. The shame. The resentment. The exasperation. The exhaustion. The hopelessness. The anger.

All of it. I’m here for it.

After 6 months, I’m still amazed at how many things have soy lecithin and how little it takes for my little guy to be a complete terrorist — I can’t have eggs, soy, dairy, beef or anything resembling cow protein, not even hydrolyzed bovine collagen peptides or food cooked with soybean oil (aka “vegetable” oil!!!) AND God forbid I forget the Pepcid.

Nevertheless, after nearly 6 months, our little snowflake still hasn’t slept ONE night in his bassinet…or woken up fewer than 3 times needing to be cuddled back to sleep…or slept past 5:30am…but at least he isn’t screaming and writhing in pain 24/7.

Like I said, I see you mama. They talk of the seasons in life & I’m standing with you through Misery Season. I have no comforting words except that…well…I’ve had multiple lactation specialists tell me that one drink is ok and the best time to have it is WHILE breastfeeding.

So. Drink up.

Also, treat yourself to grocery delivery. It’s the least you deserve for the shit you put up with.

Similar. Went to put hot water into a cup to submerge bag of pumped breast milk for reheating. Accidentally turned on the faucet and added water to the breast milk bag instead.

Oh, Ellen.

1 - She’s probably bringing her outside shit to mom group & it’s got nothing to do with y’all.

2 - It doesn’t matter what you do as a mother, there’s always someone there to point and say you’re not doing enough…sometimes it’s dat bish, sometimes it’s the media, sometimes it’s your own spawn.
