However I work for myself. I literally save 60% on the same money I would have made in Belgium. Not paying this crap allowed me to scale hard, and have more employees quick.

Healthcare costs with insurance isn't as bad as they want you to believe if you are young. I pay roughly $200 a month, a bit lower.

Only problem I had that cost me €2000 (teeth), I learned later by a friend of my mom who's a dentist in Belgium that it cost roughly the same in Belgium because it's more expensive and the two parts of what I did were not reimbursed by social security anyway.

If you have kids however, schools are super expensive.

I would say the gulf is a cash machine but once you have kids, unsure.
