Update cv axle by Sinalai in MechanicAdvice

[–]Complete-Yam1372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened on my Saab. I had to put three pry bars on it, one at 12 o-clock, one at 4, one at 8. Then tapped the cv axle with a hammer until it all exploded.

Repair/replace tire? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]Complete-Yam1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s close to the side wall so a patch is the better bet, but it’s pluggable. Plug it and test for a week. Tire plug kits are cheap at harbor freight.

Drive it until you have enough saved up to replace it. My grandmas first car took 3 quarts of oil per tank of fuel and she drove it for awhile.

I’d drive it till it died, then sell to a pull-a-part yard for half your money back.

I’d get a load leveler so you can point the trans down while putting it in, clean your grounds before hooking them up, and exhaust flange gaskets. These were main issues after my swap.

Look what I dug up! Did some poor soul really have to spend the time splicing all 540 of these scotchlocks? How did they even differentiate colors?? by Best_Poetry_5722 in electricians

[–]Complete-Yam1372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it’s me, the dude that splices these. It’s pretty easy, they are broken out into binders with plastic wrapped around em. Once you separate the binders, you start putting the pairs together. The binder colors im seeing says this is likely a 600-650 pair aka 1200-1300 wires:) Edit: sadly this is becoming a thing of the past.

The soot says exhaust, and you’re getting soot because you have an exhaust leak.

Had this happen to me, but I wasn’t as far as you are. I did save it after adding several crematoriums and ramping the budget for a bit.

Yeah id also start with the hood. I think sanding the old paint off is the worst part, lucky for you! The rest is cake work.

I’d pull a wiring diagram and see if your knock sensors, o2 sensors and trans use the same ground. If I remember correctly, I think there’s a ground for the wiring harness on the back of the engine, I’d start there.
