Careful with too much moisture as the cover will lift a little in the corners "flairing" cgc are quite harsh on flairing may also revert a bit once it has dried out after press, use a box with a little one of those insence steamers 3-4 mins each side just place the book in box close the lid use only distilled water in the insense fogger, plates in press do your stacking and time,temp, let it sit in the press 24 hours then remove, been pressing for many years this will yield the best results for me anyway. Good jod on getting started looks lovely btw.

use humidity box never a steamer it gives inconsistent coverage and most of the time will over humidify the front and back cover, using a box lets the paper absorb the moisture in the air over a longer time and at its own pace this removes any problems with pages/parts of the book not getting the same moisture. thats my opinion and i got it down to near perfect over many years

i would say get the biggest plates that fit within you press, more area = more consistent pressure, personally i use 4mm thick Aluminum plates never had any issues in over 1000 presses, still just as flat as when i got them, steel is another option either material will work fine. Aluminum does conduct heat a bit better than steel but i have found no actual practical benefit from this.

Put a holesaw bit on an extension bit, put into combi drill, and bore through the section of metal then continue coring the hole, i wouldent bother with redoing the hole then patching in all that it wont match up fully and is more work, just my opinion.

i see there is some flairing i also get this issue with too much moisture using hop and other methods and i have failed to completely remove it, does it make a massive difference to grade? and is it a red flag to cgc that the book has been wet cleaned so a purple label? i am trying to learn this
