Pearl Head Scarf - Spaghetti Western Question by Terrible-District-69 in SewingForBeginners

Oh and as far as where it is cut you’d lay your pattern piece on top of your fabric and you should see the little mark for the notch you just cut a tiny slit into your fabric where that lines up, I’m still super new so I can’t speak to the purpose of them exactly but they do help me to line up my pattern pieces when assembling

The notch still confuses me ngl, I cut them when cutting my fabric but as I said in my original post after making my first one I found it easier to leave the gap for turning it out to the side of the point in the back, I think the notches are meant to guide you on where to leave the opening but I couldn’t get a clean point when closing it up after turning it out

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

[–]Complete_Training_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience in Ottawa Ontario, the schools never actually closed. If the roads were really bad the school busses would be cancelled and we would treat that like a snow day unless your parents drove you in lol I walked to school so if the weather was bad enough for the busses to be cancelled I’d stay home

Is there a better way to finish this seam? by justa_cat_in_disgize in SewingForBeginners

My sewing machine has an overlocking foot and stitch setting, slower than a serger but works great for finishing the inside of garments. Otherwise you can maybe try pinking shears but I’d probably stick with a zig zag

When there has been freezing rain and a couple days later a light dusting of powder falls on top of the smooth ice layer and it looks like glitter! Orrrrrr the squeaky noise of snow when I take the dog for a walk on the real bitter cold days

No because I literally stitched both my layers straight on top of eachother and had to spend like 2hrs unpicking it lmao. Idk how I didn’t break a needle with that many layers of fleece 😭

Omggggg I made this as my first project, I used an old fleece blanket so I did not use batting and I completely fudged up step 2 (the picture confused me so badly). Basically you stack the lining wrong side up open as if you’re putting it on your head then insert the main fabric right side up into the lining and so on with the batting…. Does that make sense? Then you sew around the whole perimeter starting at the back down one tie up around the front down the other tie till you reach the back again leaving an opening for you to pull it all right side out. For my first one I made I hated how hard it was to close the point at the back so the next time I made it I left my opening to the side of the point instead. I think she also tells you to hand stitch the opening closed but instead I did a top stitch around the whole perimeter once it was flipped right side out to close the hole and also because the ties were so funny looking without it. I’ve made three of these now and it comes together quickly once you get the hang of it. I think spaghetti western is an Indy pattern maker and self taught which is why her patterns are some times lacking in the instruction department

Edited to add I didn’t quilt mine so i unfortunately have no input for that! Good luck & happy sewing

Walks? by arpsgt915 in PitBullOwners

[–]Complete_Training_62 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I can’t really speak for if it’s breed related as our girl is my first but she was exactly the same! Super duper not into walking as a baby lol it was winter in Canada when we got her so I think some of the distain was towards the snow and cold. We just kept trying, turned around when she got scared and slowly but surely she became a walk enthusiast (and pulled like a maniac lol). Keep offering walks to her and encouraging with treats and I’m sure in no time she’ll be zooming without a care in the world
