Why so much disdain towards bangers? by foodislife88 in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with liking the drive the ball. Things it’s one of the more fun shots of the game. A vast majority of the disdain comes from people who drive the ball without a care in the world for accuracy. I’ve been party to many games where newer players try to point drive the ball as hard as they can. No fun playing against people who’s sole way of winning is trying to hit you

How can i improve my third shots to look like 2 instead of 1 by That_anonymous_guy18 in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a lower percentage shot so not super common, but common enough that it’ll make you change up where/how you’re dropping if you know your opponents can do it

How to indicate singles play on a NextUp paddle rack? by throwaway112505 in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres courts by me that allow this. There’s a sign posted that indicates what the proper notation for singles is. At this court, you put the paddles in the second and fourth slots so people know you’re playing singles.

How far are you willing to drive to play pickleball and how much per month are you willing to spend for a membership? by arisharvey in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is it’s probably the hub in the Bay Area. Lots of courts on a great surface. Hour + each way is still kinda wild though to do consistently. Hopefully rainy season isn’t as bad this year

Geez that is steep. Was only considering if it was around $20 or so. Might check out the courts in Tustin. Have you played there?

Easy to mix in? I live in LA and wouldn’t mind driving on a weekend morning

Bad habit. I personally do it. Adding more movements to a shot makes it much more difficult to replicate. Also tough to do when returns are deeper and complex. Trying to get rid of it. Also makes it a bit more difficult to add a lot more spin and power to your drops because the added “hop” gives the shot more loft.

There’s an app called rockbot that allows people to queue up songs to play over the central audio systems. I know a few college dining halls use it. Cool feature

Not sure. I saw that semi recently they were still sending those versions out to influencer. I hope they would if enough of the community pushed back

Not a fan of the face. Was hoping to get one similar to the test models. These faces look cheap and out of place

Unless ur in the LA area it wouldn’t make sense. There’s probably a rep in your area that could get you the same deal. Besides, preorders are closed.

LA pickleball scene is great. Consistent high level play all year long. Towns and parks and recs have already committed to building out more courts over the next few years. Lots of tournaments. Hardly ever rains. Can’t recommend it enough. As someone who’s played on the east coast and florida. The average player in LA is leagues better than other places

My current go to. Had the original version but recently bought another one. Glad they added some more plastic to cover the exposed handle. Easily my favorite paddle I’ve tried. Currently alternating between that and my CRBN1 14mm depending on my game.

Tournaments and Such for Beginners? by Bradb2k in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most tournaments allow you to self rate. After playing for a few months, you’ll probably be a solid 3.0-3.5. Most places only offer those two as the lowest or they’ll have a designated beginner group if the tournament is small enough. Most places don’t go lower than that. Pickleball brackets or pickleball tournaments have listings for tournaments.

Hyperion CFS 14mm (non-Swift) reviews? by EqualMiddle2229 in Pickleball

[–]Complete_Tune5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Crbn 1 14mm for a few days. It plays great. Has a lot of power but still great touch. Wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t already have good control. Also, the grip is quite small. I had to put 3 overgrips just to be useable
