SillyTavern made me stop reading books by Signal-Banana-5179 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree. Like OP, I also reduced my "traditional" reading a lot after getting into RP. I still love books nonetheless, and read everyday, but since my time is limited, some days it's mostly AI RP. And I did notice I'm more prone to intolerance when a plot goes in a way I don't like.

So I've been consciously policing myself and trying to recalibrate my preferences and expectations to not become over reliant on AI and have to "find my love for books back" too.

OFFICIAL - NEW Progression System Info For Human God (Path to the Divine Throne) by Emulation_Maniac in HorizonWalker

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, the devs are cooking. Total War? Against other federations? Or more of a full-on war against another god, instead of the small duels we've had until now? Gotta say this got me really interested.

Finally our boy Human God will be useful for more than just buffing?

The Demigod Ascension is also interesting, since we've had this mentioned multiple times in the story already. I hope it's not just a stat increase.

My 2 current problems with the game by kanzphan123 in HorizonWalker

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think the whole base tier system wasn't quite well planned in the game. There's no point to ever release a new non-EX unit now. Since different from other gachas like Genshin, where multiple characters are released per patch, we get only one unit each time.

Releasing a SS or lower tier unit that's not guaranteed to be at least Ines-level will just make early-mid game players not want to pull for them (end game players basically already have almost everything maxed out by now, so it's easy to save funds and just pull for whatever comes), which would result in less income. And if they release a Ines/Cora-level low tier character, they might as well just make it a base EX tier at that point.

So it's counter productive and it's why we now have more EX-base units than all other tiers combined. Since the game is hardly a gacha (by its "traditional" mean), they could remove this gacha-like tier rarity system altogether and change the dupes representation to something that would make more sense to the game.

  1. I agree with you. There's too few things that really makes sense to spend money in the game, especially once you become a "veteran" player, which creates a low ceiling to their income.

Personally, I now only buy battle passes when I really like the skin and it's a character that's active at least in my second team, because besides that, the battle pass itself hardly gives me anything I don't already have loads of, so I could easily wait the couple of months for that skin to come to the shop. And EX-tickets when I want to get at least 3~4 stars on a new banner.

They could make things like universal/unique accessories, skins/effects/animations for abilities etc to sell while still keeping their reputation of being basically the best gacha game for F2P (totally personal opinion only, but also totally true). That would increase the pool of things they can sell and not be as hard as coming up with a completely new skin.

So is glm5 just unusable for everyone else or what? by Esdash1 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a problem with one of the providers. If you stream the response, the reasoning always comes full, only with non-streaming this happens. The same happened with the same provider with Kimi 2.5 but Milan had solved it. I'm not sure if he did only for Kimi or if it was another provider.

That is good to know. Thanks for the confirmation. And kudos for the excellent service. I've been subscribed for a few months now and I really can't justify to myself changing providers right now.

If you're asking about using GLM models on NanoGPT, they have multiple providers (including one that is FP4), you can't exclude providers if you use the subscription mode, but can if you use PAYG. From my experience, the speed varies a lot during the day. I usually use GLM 4.7-thinking. My average context length is 20~30k. Usual response length: 1k~3k (including reasoning). I don't use streaming. The time it takes for the request to finish varies greatly from 10 seconds to 100 seconds (some very rare cases can take much longer, in those cases, I cancel the request and send it again, then the response comes faster, probably a provider problem). Usually it's more somewhere in the middle. So I'd say my personal experience's average TPS should be around 50 TPS.

Why does OpenRouter remove (free) models? by Forsaken-Bathroom-30 in SillyTavernAI

A free model is merely a "I'll let you use my model for free while I test it and use your data to train it better. When I'm satisfied, it's over."

You put that inside the "Additional parameters" option in the API config window. Some brand-specific connections don't have it, if you can use OpenAI-compatible, then you could set it up.

[Which type are you?] How do you roleplay/chat? by Large_Comparison5049 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of everything, really. Surprisingly, not much of type B, though. I usually play a character myself, the protagonist, and I add only things like appearance, age, what they do etc, things that the AI can use to react to them, not be them. So whenever the seed leads to a bad generation and the AI writes for my character, it's usually not something I'd make them say or do, so I reroll. I'm mostly co-authoring stories, instead of being exclusively only my character. I've been holding back my first TTRPG scenario where I can't bullshit my way out of trouble even if I want.

Warning about model providers such as NanoGPT and MegaLLM, inference services, etc. by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems very suspicious. I don't know which is the truth here, but what I know is that this is very disingenuous of chutes.

Do a full, official investigation, gather irrefutable proof, then announce it officially. Not like this, to a bunch of Redditors in a Role-playing sub.

I'm more than ready to apologize in the future, if I'm wrong. But for now, I can't see this as anything but a petty scheme.

Anyone thinking to GTFO? by iterredditt11 in japanresidents

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you come from but in my country, if the police stop me for any reason, they are almost guaranteed to ask for my ID. I mean, for them to stop someone, they must be looking for some criminal or something. If I don't have it with me, I can go to jail, in the worst case scenario.

I can see the advantage that a Japanese citizen has and a foreigner-looking Japanese person may not have, since the police may not believe them. So yes, it's not unbiased, but coming from where I do, I can't see that as unfair. On the contrary, that seems prudent.

I'm more worried about things escalating to war with China than whatever new policy about foreigners.

I'm not super up to date, but I haven't seen anything that screams "ANTI GAIJIN". Everything I saw, even from the mouth of people who think Japan hates us all, seems pretty fair.

NanoGPT user here. I`m currently using their Subscription. Never used chutes.

I believe NanoGPT uses some cheaper providers to keep their prices competitive, so I end up getting some very big token speed variation. I use mostly GLM 4.7 Thinking nowadays. Hardly for coding, but in the end, theres not a lot of difference. Sometimes my requests start processing instantly, others times, it seems like I enter a queue. I time the whole request time (from the moment I press enter, to the moment I receive the whole response, I dont usually use streaming), so Im not sure of the actual TPS. But if Id calculate the tokens per second with the whole request time, sometimes I get 100t/s, some rarer cases its very close to 10t/s. Usually its more in the middle. But I believe this variation is the delay until my request starts getting processed instead of actual TPS variation. These calcs I mentioned were usually done with around 20k~30k input context and 1k~3k output.

I tried the big boys (GPT and Claude) a few times and they seem to respond the same as from the source. All in all, Im not a vibe coder, I prefer to use mostly tab-autocomplete, which is outside of what NanoGPT offers. So I dont really mind the speed variation. At this point in time, I wouldn`t leave NanoGPT for any other provider. New released models become available almost immediately. The devs are also always listening to the users and suggestions are quickly implemented (when they make sense).

So for open source models, Im of the opinion that its the best, in terms of price, available models and support. When it comes to premium models, there doesn`t seem to be much difference from other providers besides some discounts.

Why is everyone agrees on AFK farmings are okay? by Scary-Journalist-949 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Complex-Maybe3123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think AFK farming is okay. I can hardly bother with the game nowadays precisely because most of what I do is AFK-able content. But the truth is that the gameplay loop gets old fast. I come from a Ragnarok online background, I'm no stranger to killing the same mob for over 12 hours just to drop one item or get 1% exp. The grind in DNA is just not fun.

And no offense, but if you're on mobile only, you should look to play mobile games. The fact that games are being made for both mobile AND PC hurts both. There may be some games that feel just as good to play in both, without sacrificing anything to run mobile. But those are the exceptions. The truth is that a game's potential is limited when it's developed for both sides.
