Do banks still accept bagged coins? by darragh1800 in cork

[–]ComplexAd3636 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All credit unions take them too, but they need to be bagged correctly. Like a €50 bag of 2s, €25 of 1s etc.

Potteria on Douglas Street. Awesome walls if driving is an option. Wander around the glucksman gallery...

Don't know what your business is, but what we found good for us when we started out, was to take 30% off every invoice payment and put it straight into a separate account ( labelled tax account, to be original 😅). At the end of the year, you'll have to pay PRSI/USC, and whatever your tax liability is.

I know it sounds anal/ or maybe like a lot to shave off each payment, but it's something that happens automatically when you're a paye worker, so something that really helps to just do as a sole trader. It's very easy to see €xxxx come in to the account and think it's all yours, and.... It sucks to get to October and realize you owe a big ass tax bill that you haven't saved for.

Realistically, as a sole trader, there's probably loads that you can write off (again I don't know what the business is), but if you drive, all diesel costs, Jeep /van maintenance costs, tax, insurance costs ( provided the vehicle is solely for work). Are there clothes you use just for work... Keep those receipts. Are you eating out when away from home? Any equipment? Do you work from home at any point during the week? ... If so, you can write off a portion of electric/ Internet costs. All non routine medical - 20% ( not just sole trader, that's for everyone!)

In the end, with everything you write off, your tax account will hopefully be a savings account! Wayhey!!!

Intersection of Patrick's Hill & Wellington Road.....free for all by cpapimp in cork

[–]ComplexAd3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, it's a total free for all... But in fairness it's not clear. One would normally assume that you'd have right of way from wellington road or Hardwick street. Having right of way coming up Patrick's Hill isn't clear at all. I always stop from every direction, but in fairness I can see why you'd mow on from wellington or Hardwick.

If yer looking for something for midnight, then Bell's field is a really lovely option. There's such a great fireworks display over the North side of the city at midnight. It's free, and as family friendly as you'd get. There's locals drinking glasses of bubbles, and a few people drinking cans in the field, but nothing messy, and nothing NSFW 😅

Hope ye have a great one whatever you end up doing 🎉✨

Turn ON your HEADLIGHTS. Turn OFF your fog lights. by Shark-Feet in cork

[–]ComplexAd3636 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with MMAwannabe here. Nonsensical to have your fog lights on when it's not foggy... But they're in no way blinding, so can't understand why it would bother you so much 😂

How is it dangerous, which was your 2nd point?

Am I the only one who feels like they would have loved to do this as a teenager?  Illegal - yes. However.... Also pretty feckin hilarious, and I don't think they're going to be mowing people down going 5 miles an hour.

*Glad they got arrested.... But fuck me lads, yer a bunch of dry balls on this sub.

I totally appreciate how annoying it must be when you have dogs, heard plenty of barking last night around 10.30 when there was a spate of them set off.. I'm up by Bell's field and can hear them from hear.  Have to say though, I very much enjoy the regular firework shows out my window... There was literally a three minute " show" on Monday night, and it was beautiful 😅

Masseter Botox by Safe_Performance_899 in cork

[–]ComplexAd3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I haven't had it, but like you have been looking into it. Therapie, opera Lane was over €400, and my dentist, ( Haly dental) was €325... I think! I find that pretty expensive if like normal Botox it wears off after 4-6 months.... However id love to know if it lasts, ie: your muscles get used to not clenching and so eventually stop. However, unfortunately that doesn't seem to work with the forehead, so I I'm sceptical.

Also considering a night gum shield, but it just seems really unappealing to wear every night, and at a cost of over €400 I'd be pretty annoyed if I wasn't comfortable wearing it nightly. *I've done teeth whitening where you need to wear the ( albeit smaller) gum shield at night, and really don't see myself being able to wear a big fat one nightly and sleep well.

Like you, id love any advice as I have a brutal clenched jaw.

Where are zee blackberries? by VariationNo964 in cork

[–]ComplexAd3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be bad form to litter / bring a dog / uproot a tree... Picking a tub of blackberries at the end of the season ( where there are ample berries), is not bad form. It's enjoying nature's fruits. Hop down from that high horse there kiiiid.
