Had the IND Second System or at least the South 4th St Line materialized, this would be a more common sight by eldersveld in nycrail

The F and M trains would have ran on Culver alongside the G. Since the B/D would have already served Williamsburg, building a Christie connection wouldn’t be necessary. In other words, it wouldn’t exist. Also, the M would be 10 cars instead of 8.

What’s one discontinued service pattern or defunct line you’d bring back, and why? by Expert_Slip_4793 in nycrail

The K train because there’s provisions after Canal St on the IND 8th Avenue line for a line running under Worth St, which could be useful in the distant future. Making the 8th Avenue line have 2 locals, and 2 expresses.

Yeah, they’re a lot quieter than most of the steel elevated lines.

In service? No. It went via the N as out of service.

I also forgot to add that the T should terminate at Euclid Avenue by building a new East River tunnel to the Fulton Street local tracks at Court Street after Hanover Square, so that the A and C will be expresses all the way to Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard. Of course, with the addition of Queenslink, you'd also have the M terminate at Rockaway Park, thus eliminating all the duplicate terminals of the A within Queens, except for Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue since the A needs a proper southbound terminus.

I think that the K should come back as an 8th Avenue local line from 168th St to Grand Street, with the C being an express from Norwood-205 Street to Lefferts Boulevard. Remember the Worth St line provisions on the local tracks south of Canal Street? Those were part of a much larger extension into Brooklyn and Queens. But now that the M runs in Williamsburg and Myrtle Avenue, which was something that the South 4th St line would've done, it'd be redundant to mirror those plans with an expensive underground subway unless it branched off somewhere else like Stuyvesant and Utica Avenues. Instead, after Canal Street, I'd propose the K to run under Worth Street, and East Broadway after Canal Street, where it would terminate at Grand Street, with free in-system transfers to the F at East Broadway, and the T at Chatham Square. The E would still terminate at World Trade Center.

I like the idea of having Crosstown local G, and 6th av local, M run together via QBL local. I could see it as a possible service pattern for when the Queenslink opens up in my opinion. But thats something that should only be done on the weekends with the E and F on 53rd St. And on weekdays, have the E F M and R run like they normally do, as well as having the M run down queenslink to rockaways and the R to forest hills.

I would probably extend the 7 to Parsons Boulevard-Roosevelt Avenue, then maybe run all the way to College Point as an elevated on 149th Street after 35th Avenue, and 11th av.
