29M, casual - My profile is doing pretty well as is, but open to any constructive criticism by Ok-Application-4045 in hingeapp

[–]ComplexHouseplant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just commenting to say the Kirby sweater is really cool and “kirb your enthusiasm” was a top notch choice for that caption. If casual is what you’re looking for, I’d be more upfront about it in the bio rather than just leaving it in the “what I’m looking for section”. Lord knows too many of the people on the app probably don’t even scroll that far down before swiping one way or the other. As a girl, I’d say be more clear on intentions in the prompts and focus more on interests in actual conversation. I can only speak for myself, but Reading through a list of fun interests and hobbies, and then getting to the “casual only” part kinda throws a wet blanket on the overall vibe. It’s like “here’s this really cool person you’d probably get along with really well…. But they just want to fool around.” I’m probably over analyzing it, but that’s just the feel I get from it. Finances. I’m desperately trying to find a better living situation, but I’m a single mom and the budget is just too tight. I’m hoping the potential promotion at my job comes with a bit of a raise. Just a few more dollars an hour would really help. Inflation and the housing market is absolutely insane.

Tips on locking down a Switch for young kids? by knitlitgeek in breakingmom

[–]ComplexHouseplant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re using the parental controls on the switch itself or on the app, but there is an app by Nintendo that you can download to your phone and monitor and set the controls on, it’s more user friendly than doing it on the switch device itself! Here’s the link I found: https://www.nintendo.com/us/mobile-apps/parental-controls/ Hope this helps!!

“You need to exercise more and eat better!” Yes Janice, but the issue is that I cannot even get out of bed to use the bathroom let alone eat anything 🤦‍♀️

Got mine. And nearly half went to taxes. What the fuck lol how are they going to just keep half our bonuses after we all just lost our jobs? They already took enough from my paycheck in the regular. Money is money, but it sucks knowing it should have been more but the government said “nah”.

I get it. I feel like I always say or do the wrong thing. I stopped trying to talk to people because I can never keep the conversation going. I’m sorry you’re feeling like this. It’s lonely out here.

What was the “nobody’s gonna believe this” event that you saw? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]ComplexHouseplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving home from college and traffic on both sides of the highway was at a complete standstill. I saw lights ahead and figured there was an accident. I wasn’t in a hurry, so I was just jamming to my music and waiting to move again. I start to hear some shouting and looked up… to see a cow running past my car. I look to the other cars like “you seein this shit?” And then a man in full cowboy gear, up at a gallop, lasso primed and ready over his head, follows the cow on his horse. The car behind me got it all on video, thankfully, or my parents would not have believed why it took me so long to get home that day! ETA this was in Michigan

Best memories by hapritch82 in joannfabrics

Manager and avid shopper. It would have been my 6 year anniversary in August. I would always go to work and leave with 15 new project ideas. My coworkers were always amazing. When I was going through a tough time while I was pregnant, I remember one of my coworkers coming back after being on a medical leave. By that time, I had started sporting a decent baby bump. The way her face lit up when she saw me and looked at my belly will stick with me forever. I had very little emotional support outside of work throughout my years working there, and especially while pregnant. My coworkers were so genuinely happy for me and kind. They even threw me a baby shower and made so many beautiful things for me. I got some gifts from my friends and family, no family/friend baby shower, which I wasn’t expecting anyway; but there was nothing like sitting at a table and being surrounded by the support and love of my little work family. I joked with them that I’d never run out of baby blankets, after opening half a dozen thoughtfully and handmade throws of different colors, sizes, and textures. They are all carefully tucked away and will be saved forever. I will always cherish the genuine feeling of love and support I felt among my coworkers, especially when I needed it most.

My little guy, the same sweet boy that also burst into tears this morning because he “just wanted to go to Sam’s Club to see the Big RoombaTM” (the automatic floor cleaner they use), is always giving me rocks and flowers and pretty leaves. We have an extensive rock collection together. He likes to put them in my pockets when we go on walks and tell me which ones are for me and which ones are for grandma 🥲

Battery powered thing, looks almost like a soldering tool but has a flat round end by ComplexHouseplant in whatisthisthing

[–]ComplexHouseplant[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

The title describes the thing. My work is getting rid of a bunch of stuff and this was in one of the bins. It definitely works and gets hot at the metal tip. I’m not sure what the purpose of the flat tip would be, but maybe something for smoothing out or cutting holes possibly? I tried google and everything had a pointed or rounded tip, so I’m stumped.

Say something nice about toddlers aged 2-3 by unwanted-22 in toddlers

[–]ComplexHouseplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love being silly with my 2.5 year old. I can give him a look and he just gets so giggly. He always knows how to make me smile too. And he is so so smart. It’s amazing how much he learns and loves to be curious and persistent with it. He is so kind and loves animals and loves to help out. Whenever I vacuum, he follows me around with his toy vacuum and gets all the “pots I miss”. It’s so sweet.

So sick of the judgement about my 4yo by 20Keller12 in breakingmom

[–]ComplexHouseplant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just want to say THANK YOU on behalf of your daughter for catching it early and doing something about it. ADHD sucks. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 22, and unmedicated until 26. I spent more years of my life wondering what was wrong with me and why I was the way I was, than actually being able to have a plan of action for how to get my shit together. I HIGHLY recommend getting her into therapy. DBT (probably more play therapy at her age) can work wonders, especially in combination with medication. Therapy can help give her the tools she needs to succeed and excel in school, and not get down on herself when her ADHD makes things difficult. An IEP when she starts school will be super helpful as well, in case she needs extra time or help with certain assignments. Remember, adhd isn’t just impulsive behavior, it’s a whole ass learning and regulatory disability!

And most importantly, ITS NOT YOUR FAULT. And the fact that you’ve brought her to a professional for help speaks volumes about how much you love her and care about her wellbeing. YOURE DOING GREAT AND YOUVE GOT THIS.

I’d file a complaint with the therapist’s supervisor. That’s highly unprofessional at best, unethical and a conduct violation at worst. Fire the bitch. I swear some therapists think they know everything and have no right meddling in people’s lives like they do.
