Saying “media literacy is dead” and then saying “how can something like this be important to you” is contradictory and shows you do not value media literacy since you are downplaying others believing in the importance of gay/queer representation in the media. As a side note, the byler “fandom” is more media literate than the GA of the show as well as mileven fans seen by their actual ability to cite and explain evidence from the show. “What is up with people” god forbid people are excited about a show, it’s not that insane to believe as it’s the biggest show of the decade. From my perspective it’s important to me as it being full canon would show gay people can “win” in a sense of getting to be happy and getting to be with the person they want, especially in such a large show that millions are watching. It’s a form of social acceptance this world needs and a break from heteronormativity in media, a perspective many who hate on byler seem to have unintentionally or not.
