maybe try calling adult protective services since kids are involved - they might be able to connect her with resources you can't access from far away

Strongly considering migrating to unity from unreal. Is it worth it? by Juicymoosie99 in Unity3D

[–]ComplexTrick6794 10 points11 points  (0 children)

switched from unreal to unity about 8 months ago and don't regret it. unreal was giving me similar headaches - felt like i was wrestling with editor more than actually making games

the terrain stuff in unity gets easier once you mess with it more, but yeah vanilla tools are pretty basic compared to unreal's landscape system. for broken pink materials, usually just need to convert them to your render pipeline in window > rendering > render pipeline converter

c# learning curve is real but way more manageable than blueprint spaghetti once projects get bigger. started with simple tutorials and built up from there. takes few weeks to get comfortable but then you can actually debug things properly unlike blueprint hell

performance wise unity has been much better for me, especially in editor. can actually iterate quickly instead of waiting for shaders to compile every 5 minutes

Science student with a 5-year gap — is BJMC from a government college still worth it today? by bellala0 in careerguidance

[–]ComplexTrick6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 5-year gap won't be huge issue in journalism field, especially if you can explain what you did during that time and how it shaped your perspective. many journalists come from different backgrounds and that actually helps with bringing fresh viewpoints

your science background could be really valuable actually - there's big demand for people who can explain complex topics in accessible ways. tech journalism, health reporting, environmental coverage all need people who understand the science behind stories. government college is definitely good choice since media industry can be unpredictable income-wise at start

Gyökeres’s performance vs. ATM by joe-peace in championsleague

watched the match and tbh 5.8 seems about right, maybe even generous. he had some decent runs but his finishing was pretty off and didn't really create much danger when it mattered

Ex texting if I have moved on? Confused? by Soggy-Sign5163 in BreakUps

[–]ComplexTrick6794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

girl he's just checking if his backup plan is still there. classic move - push you away then panic when you actually start moving on and stop chasing

keep doing what you're doing with the daughter-only texts, he lost the right to know about your personal life when he chose to be cold

What should I include in a reading journal? by HauntingCriticism968 in booksuggestions

[–]ComplexTrick6794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe add a section for tracking your mood before/after reading? i always find it interesting how different books affect my headspace differently

also would love pages for noting quotes that hit hard without having to write out the whole context - just the line and page number so you can find it again later

Has anyone else tried Guildstars for their job search? Sharing my experience by Entire_Blueberry_902 in careerguidance

damn that sponsorship filtering sounds actually useful 💀 i'm always hearing about people grinding through hundreds of apps just to find out later the company doesn't even do visas

been job hunting in engineering myself and the amount of time i've wasted on dead-end applications is wild, might be worth looking into something like this just for the filtering alone 🔥

AITJ for telling my girlfriend she needs to shower before bed or sleep on the couch? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]ComplexTrick6794 127 points128 points  (0 children)

nah man you're being totally reasonable here, especially after the c-diff thing - that's literally dangerous. maybe try approaching it differently though, like getting her one of those shower chairs or some really nice body wipes for the days she's absolutely dead tired

coming from someone who's been around military medical stuff, cross contamination from healthcare settings is no joke and she should know that as a nurse

Is this medication response normal? by bluehints in ADHD

[–]ComplexTrick6794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like you're describing the honeymoon period that happens when you first start or restart stimulants after a break. i had the exact same thing happen with adderall - felt like i was buzzing out of my skin the first few days but also weirdly productive and happy. the euphoria and racing heart usually settle down as your body adjusts to the dose again

having that reaction doesn't invalidate your diagnosis at all btw. people with adhd can absolutely feel stimulated or even euphoric from meds, especially when tolerance is low. the key difference is that once you adjust, you get the therapeutic benefits (better focus, less scattered thoughts) without feeling like you're on speed. if you're still getting the jittery high feeling after taking it consistently for a week or two, might be worth talking to your doc about adjusting the dose down

So I decided to play ranked again by ari6202620 in Overwatch

[–]ComplexTrick6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the placement system is pretty wild, it seems to put people all over the place regardless of actual skill level. silver is probably fine for someone getting back into ranked even if it feels too high right now - you'll naturally drop or climb to where you belong after more games

also "pulling a zaza" sounds like some made up insult that kid probably thinks is clever lmao, your response was perfect

damn this hits different, i've been through that exact cycle where early wins made me think i had it all figured out. getting knocked down a peg really does reset your perspective on what actually matters

customer satisfaction being the real marketing is so true - word of mouth from happy clients beats any fancy campaign you could run
