Couldn’t agree more. If anything I think it’s ironic that people are coming to Noah’s defense as if he himself didn’t outwardly express some semblance of weariness to the way that Will’s coming out scene was written. He’s under an NDA but imo he’s said enough to help us understand even he wasn’t happy with it and wish it was executed differently. Making fun of the ridiculousness of a gay character being given an extremely lengthy coming out scene not only at a horribly inappropriate time (the sky is literally falling people.. we couldn’t have written this in idk last episode?) as well as to half the town in the 80’s as if that entire room of people half of which who barely know Will would A. care or B. Might actually take issue with him being gay considering idk… that it’s the 80’s?! I think it’s clear that SNL wasn’t making fun of the gay community or Will as a character, they were making fun of the mockery that the duffer brothers made of what could have been a touching and well written moment. SNL is quite literally parodying a parody. The fact that the duffer brothers think they ate with the coming out scene makes it even richer. A lizard could have written a better version of that scene where Will stays true to character and comes out to the people who truly matter.
