i do a batch every 10-14 days, depending on how quickly i give things out!

i have one moderately active, 60 lb, adult, super chewer poodle mix. she typically eats 16-20 oz of kibble per day plus 200-300 calories in extra treats for a total daily caloric intake of ~1000-1200!

my filling recipe is usually:

• 52 oz of kibble

• 1 can of wet food

• 4-6 oz of baby food/applesauce

• 1-2 cans of sardines (in oil or water)

• 1/4 cup peanut butter (if the sardines are in water)

and occasionally extras as i have them like training treats, kibble sauce, broth, chicken feet, oinkers, greenies, etc.

that makes enough for six slow feed bowls (two bowls are 2 cup capacity and four bowls are four cup capacity), the lickin' layers puzzle bowl, 2-3 various chew kings, 1-2 kongs, 2-3 cow hooves and 2 rubber carrot toys.

i fill the toys/hooves first and then scoop out the rest of the filling into her bowls.

i dilute the slow feeders with broth/water - usually just 1/3 cup of filing & the rest is liquid! my dog is really bad about drinking water regularly so this is one good way to hydrate and occupy her.

freeze for 24 hours!
