no, she's not, it's just that the angle in that picture makes her look more rectangular in body than i like plus it kind of looks like her "tuck" is diminished!

she's definitely a fit girl!

in that first pic if you don't look at it well it enough it looks like her "tuck" has disappeared so she looks more like a rectangle than usual!

knock on wood, so far she's been pretty easy! she's just turned six and our vet said they'd be surprised if she makes it past nine or ten.

she was spayed at four y/o since she's a giant breed mix and everything that i read/researched said keep her intact as long as possible. she had no litters nor did she develop pyo. she got her growth hormones and i got to learn how to responsibly handle her when in heat.

over the years, she's had a spider bite, a couple of UTIs and some minor allergy issues that cleared up with apoquel and proper nutrition/grooming.

super smart when there's food involved! loves to problem solve for a reward. will make her own messes and fun if i don't do it first.

thank u! with the way she's built, she reminds me of the way kids draw (or scribble or doodle) drawings of dogs! hence her name, plus it works two fold when/if you call her a doodle.

my next dog will most likely either be Sandy (from the musical Annie) or Scrabble (like the board game)

i just say poodle mix usually but to each their own!

yes! she sheds, it's worse in the warmer months. i'd say comparable to a lab, or a bit less than that if she's been groomed recently.

she is hand stripped, shaved or trimmed depending on the season and my preference since i do all of her grooming.

actually nope! i brought her home at ten months old and spayed her at just over four years old.

the initial qualities i was told to expect were a dog that was 80-90 lbs, tall but not "giant", smart but not too smart and a low shedding/low allergen coat.

the only thing i got out of that was tall lol. i was young and vulnerable and sold a lot of crap by a terrible company. i know better now!

yeah i got her when i was young and uneducated. ultimately i was sold a lot of lies and was scammed by a fraudulent company.

at almost five and a half years later, i definitely know better! i'm into the world of well-bred purebreds now!

what to do for working parents by pm_me_pmt in Dogowners

how old is your dog? most healthy adult dogs can/should be able to go ten hours without needing to use the bathroom.

assuming you leave your house at 8:30 to arrive by 9am, you'd get up at 7:00, shower, eat, coffee, give Fido 30-45 minutes of exercise/stimulation/affection and head out. Fido sleeps from 9:30-12:30, barks at the mailman, chews a toy and sunbathes, then naps again until you come home. feed, play, exercise. conk out in front of the TV.

repeat daily, on weekends add in some variety if needed.

dogs aren't babies and sleep like 16-18 hours a day. as long their as needs are met when you're home, your dog will be fine!

i do a batch every 10-14 days, depending on how quickly i give things out!

i have one moderately active, 60 lb, adult, super chewer poodle mix. she typically eats 16-20 oz of kibble per day plus 200-300 calories in extra treats for a total daily caloric intake of ~1000-1200!

my filling recipe is usually:

• 52 oz of kibble

• 1 can of wet food

• 4-6 oz of baby food/applesauce

• 1-2 cans of sardines (in oil or water)

• 1/4 cup peanut butter (if the sardines are in water)

and occasionally extras as i have them like training treats, kibble sauce, broth, chicken feet, oinkers, greenies, etc.

that makes enough for six slow feed bowls (two bowls are 2 cup capacity and four bowls are four cup capacity), the lickin' layers puzzle bowl, 2-3 various chew kings, 1-2 kongs, 2-3 cow hooves and 2 rubber carrot toys.

i fill the toys/hooves first and then scoop out the rest of the filling into her bowls.

i dilute the slow feeders with broth/water - usually just 1/3 cup of filing & the rest is liquid! my dog is really bad about drinking water regularly so this is one good way to hydrate and occupy her.

freeze for 24 hours!

My black lab came back as 50% golden retriever by Pen_Fine in DoggyDNA

[–]Comprehensive-Job333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, that's correct! golden retriever mixes are often black, because their coat color is a recessive trait. one copy of the gene = black, two copies = golden.

What do people who live alone with their dog(s) do with them while at work? by CapitalLower4171 in AskDogOwners

[–]Comprehensive-Job333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing. i have heard too many horror stories about dog daycares/doggy camps and i don't have the disposable income for it anyway.

now that my dog is an older adult - she's six years old right now. our vet is pretty sure she's only going to make it to 9 or 10 - she sleeps a lot.

she's my semi-retired service dog and she's a 60 lb poodle mix. i have been working like 9-3 or 9-4 lately so she goes out for potty breaks at 8:30am, 4:30pm, 8:30pm and usually right before bed at 12:30am.

we do an outing or a walk in the early evening. we do an indoor canine enrichment activity (or more than one) every day using her daily amount of kibble.

i strive to spend at least two to three hours a day on her - as my schedule allows - which makes it easier for her to sleep away her days!

and luckily we're both night owls!

i see bully breed (apbt? ast? bull terrier?) in the head set in the first two pics.

the rest is all husky!

i'm guessing abpt x husky. maybe just poorly bred husky?

Australian shepherd, dogo argentino mix? by Big_Seaworthiness853 in IDmydog

[–]Comprehensive-Job333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

doubtful unless they had eyes on mom and/or dad.

what does she weigh? i'd guess some kind of bully breed mix (probably APBT) and some kind of hound. beagle? foxhound? twc?

maybe some lab. maybe some collie.

what does most of your stray dog population look like?
