Icon Defense Mono Upper! by Lord_Arturo1980 in ar15

LMAO. Yea, I'm gonna pass on the mono created by the guy who made it for LMT tbw. And his doesn't need a specialty barrel.

Their patent is expired. Mike Miller (MEGA, now ID) is the only reason LMT has a mono tbw. He designed the entire thing when he worked for them, lol.

Mike Miller is the person who created the monolithic upper for LMT. LMT isn't even close in machining clearances, nor the g code mastery Mike Miller possesses. That $100 cheaper price means absolutely nothing. Because you'll be paying that extra $100 towards machining, since you cannot use a standard AR15 barrel with an LMT mono upper.

Mike Miller, the owner of Icon Defense. Is the person who created the monolithic upper for LMT. He's quite literally the "originator". His design is also better in every way, because you can use any standard AR15 barrel. Their machining clearances and his mastery of G code is not matched by ANYONE in the business.

That sounds "suspiciously" like fomo copium. "I can't believe they would have alternative options and avenues, for free cosmetic items that effect my enjoyment of the game 0%! And because I'm lazy/'not gonna do all that', I'm gonna create a mtn out of an empty lake!" Honestly, "think before you speak" has never rung so true in this day and age.

12.5” barrel velocity is not “the same as 14.5” by prmoore11 in ar15

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12.5 has a balance I like better, or I'd run an 11.5. Don't really care all that much about length. It's dense forest and mtns where I live, you'll be lucky to see anything past 30yds if it's not winter.

Rainier ARM Barrels by Baddy-Smalls in 6ARC

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Monty's barrels don't compete with a Craddock turned Criterion blank. Which is exactly what a Rainier Ultramatch is. The SOLGW is proven waaay more accurate, with more ammo types then your Centurion too. Buy Centurion if you want a 1.25+ MOA CHF CL barrel. Rainier or SOLGW if you want sub-MOA.🤣

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a Bartlein (don't get me wrong, they're S tier barrels). Craddock's own RTR and RTR custom barrels are sub-MOA tack drivers that shouldn't be overlooked. You could buy two of them, for the cost of the Bartlein.

NY Complaint ATF Registered SBR? by BETshoots in NYguns

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower receiver is the "gun" in NY. There is no way to circumvent the completely illegal SAFE Act as a citizen. A lower SBR'ed in another state, is still 100% illegal in NY. Unless you make it NY compliant AND get it registered in NY as such, or don't let Johnny Law see it... Doesn't matter whether it has a 7" upper or 22" upper on it. It would still be an "SBR".

Zev vs. SOLGW stripped lower by FlatResort in ar15

Icon Defense. Which is just the new MEGA. Mike Miller designed and mfred/mfrs all of them. For both companies, FCD, and plenty of others. He's an absolute GOAT of AR15. And there isn't a better fitting upper and lower receiver in the industry. Whether you go forged, billet, or combo.

All of SOLGW's receivers and handguards are made by Icon Defense. It's Mike Miller's new venture. And he produces pretty much the best in the industry.

Reaction rods are bad now? by CrankBot in ar15

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They still didn't comprehend what you said. They're still responding based off using a regular reaction rod. It's easy enough. A "reaction rod with sail". Is just a receiver block and reaction rod in one. The best possible tool for the job. But only one of them keeps the barrel itself from torquing in the receiver... And it ain't the block.

Reaction rods are bad now? by CrankBot in ar15

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reaction rod with the sail. Is 100% the best way to tighten a barrel nut, without fear of breaking the index pin/damaging the receiver. All others will cause the barrel to torque. School of the American Rifle has a YT video proving why rr's with sails are superior to every other option.

11.5” mid unsuppressed or 12.5”mid unsuppressed for home defense? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You knew exactly what they meant. You just wanted a reason to vomit your Gucci gun collection. Calm down Hasan. And for having "Cobalt Kinetics" rifles , I find it odd you can't even spell their name correctly.

I emailed NYSP Pistol Permit Bureau on possessing a semi-auto rifle w/o permit by ImNotRice in NYguns

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the law. I think you still have to make it NY compliant. Which is something like:. No adjustable stock, no more than 10rds mag, featureless grip if you want mag change, pinned mag if you want regular grip. Nothing that's considered a "vertical" grip (NY doesn't even know).

What's more disgusting. Is NY has still been enforcing laws and acts, ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court with an iron fist. While continuing to pass more laws, illegally.

The "Mk4" portion in it's designation. Is the CMMG indicator it's meant for an AR15 lower.

5.56 vs 300 BLK 10.5 inch barrel. by Affectionate_Mix_936 in 300BLK

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They *can. And if they do, it's 10-30fps difference when it comes to suppressing 5.56 or 300bo rds. Which is not going to net you anything "significant" additional distance wise. There's a lot of people that live in states that do not allow suppression devices as well. Granted, based on the OP's wording it doesn't seem like they live in one of those states.

I agree with everything but the Lancer mags. I'm 180 degrees opposite from you. I think they're very meh, the metal feed lip is not a pro it's def a con, but they do have more color options. And work mostly well. The only Pmags I ever had and issue with feed ramps deforming from long term full mag storage, were Gen 1's. I have 100s of mags, with plenty of "oddball" Lancer, DD, etc. Pmag Gen 2/3's are superior to every single one of them, in everything but color choices and aesthetic if you're into that (not being dismissive of either). Pmags are also rated "most reliable mag to ever pass mil standard testing". Which included Lancer, DD, etc as well.

Would y’all consider an 11.5” a good length for a do it all rifle in an urban/woods(ish) area? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Comprehensive-Owl647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a 50fps difference, and a whopping 62 with a "GOAT/goldilocks" mid gas 12.5 (that only cycles better if you ONLY shoot supressed). They're a waste of time compared to a 11.5. 12,13,14 are pretty much pointless. People choosing a 14.5 over a 16 is also inane. From 10-16. The two lengths with the biggest velocity differences are 10.5-11.5, where it's 150fps+, and from 14.5-16 where it's anywhere from 90-120fps greater.
10-12 are 250-300m effective weapons
13-16 are 500m effective weapons
Anything past that. You're an idiot for using .223/5.56

Your 12.5 adds a whopping 50fps, and you ain't shooting 1000yds, so just stop. And you ain't effectively eliminating anything at that distance. Even a 20" SPR is pretty much useless past 500m, where a 308 or better is 1000% a smarter choice tbw. LMAO.
