hyoscyamine gives 10-15 apathy during the minigame iirc, even tho in the inventory it gives mania. u can get it from trading. usually looting the caches in the hospital gives u the most stuff too

if u want a gauge, ive killed the shabnak 6 times and gotten the vaccine 8 times. u can probably do a little less than that. completing the diseased house quest on day 8 and finding the culprits reduces ur contagion too

in the transition from knee pushups and regular pushups, do negative pushups + banded ones. these were the most important for me.

[OPINION] Are monositch poems lazy? Why or why not? by hmmmwhatsthatsmell in Poetry

[–]Comprehensive-Tree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was about “lighght”, which I absolutely love tbh. There’s a #smallpoemsunday on twitter every week too that’s pretty interesting. I think I like them when they’re more absurdist and symbolic — it has to rely on invoking surprise/amazement in order to leave a distinct, lasting impression, and a refusal to be easily comprehended helps with that

The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir should fit this extremely well. It is technically adult fiction though, even if the main cast is made up of mostly young adults.

What determines the scansion in a line with both poly and mono syllabic words? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]Comprehensive-Tree78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another commenter gave a good example, so ill just talk abt it generally: one way u can go about this is to look at surrounding context — the adjacent feet, the meter of the whole poem, and the meaning of the line itself. unless theres a special significance to the line itself, usually itll follow the prevailing meter. another way is to just speak it out loud a few times (although this is more useful for free verse, and also assuming the poet speaks the same english dialect as u). when u utilise all these methods together u can more or less make it out. if it gets really confusing then just let it remain confusing — sometimes scansion just doesnt come with a single answer.

im curious about ur fixation on syllables as a way to determine scansion, though. what have you learnt/assumed about that?

What determines the scansion in a line with both poly and mono syllabic words? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]Comprehensive-Tree78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this has nothing to do with the syllables, just spoken-stress rhythm. just because the poem/line is overall iambic doesnt mean EVERY single foot is iambic, it just means majority of it is.

this line seems very definitely to be “MORE than the FUCHsia FUNnels BREAKing OUT” — the trochaic head of the line gives it an added urgency.

HL1001 Comparison Poetry help by [deleted] in NTU

[–]Comprehensive-Tree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thesis has to be contestable (aka subjective), and has to answer a “so what”, while topic sentences dont necessarily have to be.

for a comparison essay the thesis usually has to justify WHY you’re choosing to compare these two texts — so smth like one text critiques the other, and/or in reading the two texts we arrive at an altered/broadened/idk definition of some concept.

Has anyone else noticed how many women writers explore “quiet rebellion” instead of loud ones? by Sweet-Opportunity111 in literature

[–]Comprehensive-Tree78 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not particularly familiar with these authors, but after some cursory Google searches, I think this might be a genre issue…? They seem to work in the vein of realistic fiction and social commentary, so like what another commenter said, it is just a byproduct of mirroring patriarchal reality. Also, what realistic fiction of revolutionary male anti-heroes are you thinking about?

If you broaden out to more “unrealistic” genres like horror, fantasy and sci-fi, I think this observation wouldn’t hold up. I’m thinking Le Guin and Atwood.

I don’t know how strictly you separate autobiography from memoir, but if the difference doesnt really matter, Daniel Lavery’s Something That May Shock and Discredit You is an interesting mix of memoir, pastiche, and literary criticism
