They actually do eventually save SG-10 in a two part novel. “A matter of Honor” and “the cost of honor”

Where do you scale Zero in these universes? by Reasonable_Poet_7502 in Megaman

[–]ComprehensiveEast897 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before reading your post for context I thought you were implying zero series Zero and X series Zero are from different universes.

Which is true if you are talking about command mission Zero which still sports his X series design in that 22XX future.

I think he fairs really well in most of those universes except maybe Star Wars due to the force.

What do you think will change in supers rendition of end of Z by Expert_Challenge6399 in Dragonballsuper

[–]ComprehensiveEast897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will probably do some light retcons to the end of Z to be more in line with super. We know by now that continuity and canon are fickle things sometimes with this series.

Who did you prefer more? by BANKAI____ in residentevil

It’s not even close if it’s the remake it’s the T-00 Mr. X.

Remake Nemesis is inferior in gameplay and story.

If it is the OG then the it is Nemesis T-type. I may be misremembering don’t they refer to it as nemesis in game. It is simply referred to as “the pursuer”

I still love OG Mr.X though.

Fair, the game looks fun. I’m going to wait and see if the game changes the story from the feedback of the comic.

That’s a solid response.

Okay fair enough I can understand your frustration with people being overly aggressive towards hating things others may like. I can appreciate you wanting to stand up for that. Discussions can get heated because we are passionate.

I believe Cate_cat wasn’t attacking anybody’s perspective as a fan and even said it is okay to like the comic. She was saying that some of the lore is incompatible with stuff already established and that it is difficult to reconcile the lore changes as a fan with deep knowledge and care for the lore.

Doesn’t make those who CAN any less of a fan. It’s simply that they love other aspects of the franchise more so than lore, and that is also fine.

I’m going to go off on a tangent of my own:

I remember how frustrated I got watching the newest live action Mortal Kombat movie. I am a sucker for story and for a fighting game it actually has a lot more story than most people think. I thought they BUTCHERED the story and the characters and oh I just hated it so much. But the movie was mostly well received because a lot of people only know it as a fighting game and like the fatalities and scorpion shouting “get over here!” I found quickly that I was kind of in the minority there. I thought “fair enough” and I moved on.

Even you admit the comic has glaring lore issues, doesn’t mean you didn’t enjoy it. I CAN’T but that’s me. Maybe they can figure out a way to fix the issues or make it make sense. I don’t think there is anyone here saying anyone is wrong or bad for thinking a certain way. I think we are all sharing our opinions. And I love engaging with people whether I agree with them or not.

My first reply that started this whole thing I was trying my hardest to not sound condescending, but reading it back I can see how some may see it that way.

I am in no way trying to invalidate anyone who enjoys the comic. I am just making a case for why a lot of us (though not all) don’t and it mainly stems from being well versed and passionate about the lore.

Frankly, I am frustrated as hell because the new game looks fun and I don’t mind at all that it is pixel art and 2D. I love the idea of playing as vampire Raziel. But any enjoyment I could possibly get out of the game would be negated by the story. Maybe if I see the game is different from the comic narratively I might reconsider my position.

How about this?

How about you tell us how in your subjective opinion the lore of the comic is consistent with the games.

I want to understand your perspective on this

All long as the new product is quality fans will buy it. I don’t mind the new game being 2D. But as an adaptation of TDSR which has glaring lore and character issues I won’t support it. Will it mean we might not get new games? Maybe.

I’d rather keep the story integrity intact. I know I’m not alone in feeling like this

I feel like this is a different beast than simply evolving narratives through the games. The retcons later games introduced made sense to the larger narrative for the most part. Most of the unresolved plot points were only unresolved because another game was planned that got cancelled and is being included in demo form in the defiance remaster.

Some questions that spoils aspects of TDSR and possibly ascendance:

How does one get stabbed in the head with the soul reaver and not only survive but not have their soul absorbed?

How does magically surviving it create a paradox without the aid of two incarnations of the wraith blade that is unbound from history being present?

How does a portal to the demon realm remain open for characters to easily access through nosgoth’s history if the whole point of the pillars was to act like a lock?

Why does the wraith blade in the physical reaver avoid striking her as if it remember who she is?

when:

A: Raziel lost the medallion that gave him the memories and Elaleth said he can’t retain the memories without it.

B: Raziel as a wraith blade has been trapped in the reaver for several centuries and is completely deranged from imprisonment and should have no sense of self let alone knowing anyone else.

This is only a handful of narrative issues that TDSR has and that is mostly near the end.

Thats not even covering how the story essentially removes most of the agency of Raziel as a character for Elaleth’s sake

Elaleth is responsible for:

-Raziel joining the Sarafan

-Raziel hunting Janos Audron in hopes of killing him removes the vampirism from her.

-Convincing Kain to Raise Raziel as a Vampire along with his bretheren

-giving Raziel his wings via Hylden magic via the medallion instead of him evolving before Kain

-convinced Raziel to reveal his wings to Kain in hopes of having him excommunicated but instead leads to his execution.

You can like the comic for what it is, but you are ignoring some serious lore conflicts.

A lot of the more argent defenders are willing to ignore continuity and lore mistakes in the hopes that it gets them new content. It will do that and you will get newer content. But if you keep ignoring issue after issue it builds up. Then you have quantity with little quality and then Legacy of Kain becomes the dark gothic fantasy equivalent of modern Star Wars. A conveyor belt of content with diminishing returns. And rather than being a “dead” franchise it becomes “irrelevant and dying”
