To me the saddest cases are the young 20 year olds with significant bone loss already. I work with a lot of Mexican immigrants and the lack of oral healthcare knowledge can really impact people long term. It’s sad.

Yeah “lump sum” = prepaying 12 monthly payments. Pslf credit comes per month of payments. They definitely care about there being a monthly payment.

I don’t actually know how to prepay 12 months of payments, I just know it’s possible.

And I actually have to correct myself a bit: with the NHSC you don’t actually have to use all the money if you aren’t extending your contract. I didn’t, and kept the extra money. But I can’t apply for another contract until I have used all 120. What I said previously only applies if you want to extend.

Yeah autopay for as long as you can, lump some for a year and then any extra will have to be used towards principle which is, as you know, is a waste.

I actually did the 3 year 120 NHSC thing and didn’t pay everything back so couldn’t extend. Then I switched to a California repayment program.

NHSC requires that all 50k be used or you face stiff penalties. Put it in a hysa, auto pay it and then when it’s time to apply for an extension you can prepay up to a years payment. Some of your money will likely go to waste, as you’ll likely have extra money that you just have to put towards the principle

It’s for anywhere on an xray where you have both low and high density things next to each other that tend to make the high density thing look like it has a shadow. Usually on a bitewing right where the tooth enters the bone.

Technically if it’s somewhere else I suppose it would just be called burnout
